My friend Mike Jones issued a challenge to post a photo from the 1980s era.  It took some digginig to find a couple, but thought I would play along.

These were taken in May of 1986 when I had 200 acres in central Florida.  My passion was (and still is) horses ... well, any animal really.

This fine looking fella is Chub.  Chub was an AQHA registered gelding and was the absolute best horse I ever owned.  Or better yet ... he was the best owner I ever had.  He was kind, patient, attentive, quick, well mannered and could work cows like no other animal I've ever seen.  Chub also enjoyed his turn at a set of barrels from time to time.  ;)

I miss this guy.  He was 24 years old when he passed away from a stomach cancer, yet he never had a foul day.  We should all be so lucky.

Carol, nice photos of you and Chub.  It's always interesting to go back and revisit our past and enjoy all we've been blessed with over the years.  Looks like you're having fun.

Wow, I missed the challenge but will go read it. I remember big hair, big shoulder pads ( heard they were coming back) and disco.

Carol. I posted my 1980 Prom Photo in Mike's post...but you got me thinking nostalgically about the 80's it was a great time to be a teen, college student and start my real estate career. So many fond memories I wish I had kept more photos.

Carol - A few years I worked with a bunch of kids (in their 20s), at a company that wanted to hold a retro party.  What decade did they have in their heads?. . .Why the 1980s of course!  I grew up in the poodle skirt era, so you know how that made me feel . . .LOL

Barbara - He was absolutely the best all around horse you could ask for.  Thanks.

Missy - I don't do shoulder pads!  I look like a linebacker in them!  LOL

Steve - A teen in the 80s?  Oh my!  I was certainly not a teen - in fact I was celebrating the 17th anniversary of my 18th birthday!  LOL

Michael - Thank you!

Kate - I truly enjoyed all my horses, but Chub was my buddy.  I could put a 2 year old on his back, drop his reins to the ground and tell him to walk the baby and he would make such a slow circle the baby would be kicking him to make him move.  He was truly a treasure.

Liz - I'll be checking on you!  I want to see some 80s Liz pics!  :)

Sally - Thanks!  There's lots about me that might surprise ya!  ;)

Steve - Thanks!  Chub was a true best friend.  He is missed all the time.

Chris - Thank you!

Myrl - You're not alone.  I had a pink poodle skirt with a black poodle wearing a rhinestone collar.  And had to wear a crenoline under the skirt!  I don't think many folks know what a crenoline is!  LOL  Retro?  Well, I guess that's better than being called old!  LOL

Those photos are a lot of fun.  I cringe to think about posting any of mine from the 80's, but it might be fun. I had some big hair!

Carol, What a beauty....I loved the photos and haven't been able to find any but these are precious!  You look wonderful and are so fortunate to have had horses.  I've only been on them a few times in my life.  What wonderful memories....

Tony & Darcy - Chub was a one of a kind animal.  I really miss his soft muzzle and expressive eyes.

Ann - Oh go ahead!  Be a sport!  We all looked different in the 80s!  LOL

Carole - Thanks!  I was very fortunate, that's for sure.  I sure wish I could do it all again.  Some of my best days were spent with those animals.
