The New York Yankees

Congratulations to the New York Yankees on their World Series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies last night!

Of course we all knew they were going to win. But, like any great team, they couldn’t have done it without some help…

Just like the time I helped the Yankees win it all with Joe DiMaggio by my side…

Rutman and DiMaggio

...And who can forget that great lineup of ’61 featuring Maris, Mantle and Rutman?

Maris, Mantle and Rutman!

…Or those few years I took off from baseball to help the Jets win the Super Bowl?

Rutman leads the Jets to their only Super Bowl Victory!

Of course there was that time in 1969, when I was out with an injury – naturally, it was a sports related injury as I fell off a barstool watching a football game! - that I helped my teammates at NASA land on the moon…

Rutman lands on the moon!

But when I returned, I was ready to lend my hand to help the New York Rangers win their first Stanley Cup in 54 years…

Rutman leads the charge as the Rangers win the Stanley Cup!

They even retired my uniform after that spectacular season! It still hangs today in the Rangers locker room at Madison Square Garden!

Rutman's uniform hangs in the Ragners locker room in Madison Square Graden!

Last night, as the Yankees pummeled the Phillies, I watched as my teammates, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Andy Petite, and all the rest, cruised on to victory and wrap up their 27th World Series Championship. Hideki Matsui won the series MVP award, even though some say I really deserved it. But he’s a good guy, so I’m happy for him…kind of.

All in all, it was a good series with a great outcome!

Congratulations to the 2009 World Series Champions, the New York Yankees!

Craig Rutman - You are an icon, for sure.  You did forget to mention the part you played in Bill Buckner's goof when he let Mookie Wilson's ground ball roll between his legs.  Speaking of which, how does a chap like me get an autographed Lenny Dykstra Copenhagen Can?  Hook a brother up!

Hey Jason...

Yes, you're right...Craig was instrumental during 1986 World Series

But let's not forget about his pitching during the 1969 Series

Amy - Thank you Amy! I'm not so sure they could have won without me!!! And, as you can see above, I could never have done it without Charles' support!!! Charles loves sports and athletics in general. In fact, he's a real athletic supporter!!!!!!!!!!!

Toula - This post took a few twists and turns before i clicked the submit button. I originally didn't have Joe Willie in it. But I knew YOU'd get a kick out of it! Glad you enjoyed!

Debi - The fans want to know! I have to support the people who cheered me on all those years!!!

Debbie - I was actually cooking up this whole thing while watching the game last night. By the third beer inning, I knew what direction I was heading!!!

I'll start watching baseball again when they have a salary cap and prevent the Yankees from buying all the best players. 40 times? that's just stupid. About as broken as the BCS.

Love the photo's btw!

Wanda - Yes, sadly you missed many things Wanda. Sadly, these comment boxes aren't that big!!! But, thank you for those accolades!!!

Jason Sardi - Hey! Mookie ripped that ball! Not even Mattingly would have stopped it!!!! As far as getting Dykstra's autograph, I would suggest writing to him here:

California State Penitentary

Prisoner #2453056

Alcatraz, CA 900023

If he writes you back, you'll have his autograph!!!

I'm innocent I tell ya!

I was a huge Mattingly fan and have a plethora of his cards to this day.  As far as Lenny...

He never looked better.  Is that Greg Nino Dykstra's chewing on?

Toula - Now that's a picture that brought back some "Amazin'' memories!

Jason Sardi - Let's not forget the role Toula played during those glory years. It's not easy entertining 54,000 fans as Lady Met each day. And she did a wonderful job until her tragic relapse......She was never the same after she met Jack!!!!!

Greg - Spoken like a true Astros fan!!! But I do agree that the BCS is broken.

Jason - Except for the opposing teams, everyone was a huge Mattingly fan. He, like Jeter is today, is what's good about baseball. Dykstra chewing on Greg Nino...Now that's freaking hysterical!!!

Craig...I do feel a bit better about the win knowing you were part of the team...Otherwise a Boston Fan would have no other options but to root against the Yankees.

I'm glad it's over!  Congrats to the Yankees for their 27th World Series win.  Now, next year, I'd like to see a Series that takes places a couple weeks earlier, and not include the Yankees once again.

Nevin - Thank you sir! And you, my friend, while maybe not in the Hall of Fame, were at least recognized by your peers as "Loan Officer Supremo"! How wonderful it must have been to accept as your prize that personalized Pocket Protector!!!

Nevin Williams' personalized pocket protector!

Toula - Now that's some funny stuff! And, really now, when's the last time you had this much fun with Lady Met?!!!

Steve - There's a baseball team in Boston?

Tom - OOOOOOOH. Tom's a Yankee hater!!!

Kathleen - Thank you Kathleen! Sometimes the comments are much better than my blogs...this might even be one of those times!!!

Toula - And, quite honestly, aside from building a network of Realtors and related trades across the country from wiich to rely on, and from informing consumers about happenings in our respective markets, isn't that what this "social network" is all about?

By the way, I have fun no matter where I go or what I do. Life's too short not to.

HAHAHAHA!! Craig, Way too fun!  Everytime I come by I am just amazed!  Congrats on your most recent win, sorry you didn't get the MVP, I was really hoping you would. Oh, and I apologize to you and Mickey for hoping Drysdale would win back then, but I was just a kid and I didn't know then what I know now! LOL

Wow, Craig, I guess the comparisons to Forrest Gump are just unavoidable...how did you manage to be in all those places at just the right time??

Thanks for the smile!

Congratulations to the Yankees; my husband and son are very happy they won and I am very happy that baseball is over (the longest season ever...).  Now we can follow only Football until Basketball begins--almost immediately!!!!

Michael - Thank you Michael! I typically scour the Picassa pages for pictures to use in my blogs. Or, I just create them in Photoshop.

Holly - Forrest Gump! Now that's too funny! But after looking at this picture, I can see the resemblances!!!

Forrest Gump or Craig Rutman. You decide!

Laura - My twisted mind? What is it about YOU that keeps you coming back for more?!!!!!
