Toronto's SANTA CLAUS PARADE - NOVEMBER 15, 2009

TORONTO'S SANTA CLAUS PARADE - NOVEMBER 15, 2009; 12:30 p.m.

The longest running children's parade in the world .... a Tradition in Toronto for over 100 years -

the Santa Claus Parade is back on Sunday, November 15th.

- 22 floats - 22 bands - 200 clowns ... and of course, Santa Claus.

The parade will start at Bloor and Christie, and head East on Bloor Street
...head South along Queen's Park to University Avenue....
it will turn East again on Dundas Street to Yonge Street, and south to Front Street,
...where it will head East again and end at the intersection of Front and Church Streets.

Remember to leave your car at home. There will be no parking along the route, and it will be extremely busy on any road that will cross the route. You are better off taking public transit.

If you're going to watch the Parade,

why don't you also pick up a toy,

and watch the Parade near the Hospital for Sick Kids,

where you can drop off your toy and brighten up a child's day?

Sylvie - trust you to find a worthwhile cause to tie in with this annual event - with Christmas being so commercialized these days it is very heartwarming to see the connection here.

Kathy, it's the only reason I go to the parade. It breaks my heart to see those kids attached to those machines ... and the only time in the year they smile, is probably watching the parade or receiving a toy.

Wow, Sylvie, That sounds like quite a parade! I can imagine how much fun it would be to take children or grandchildren or just see it myself! I do hope they bring a toy to the hospital, it's a particularly lonely place on the holidays.

Wow my toes are cold just thinking about Santa Claus parades. Long gone are the days the kids wanted to get up and go watch the Oakville one on the corner of the street where grandma and grandpa lived. Everyone we knew would come back in afterwards for hot chocolate. Great cold memories.

Carole, it's heartbreaking to see the sick children outside the hospital ... but they are all so thrilled to see the parade. A toy definitely will brighten up their day/week.

Jenny, I remember the days when I used to get up early, to fight the traffic, and take Alex to the building where I used to work, at Bloor & Avenue Road ... so we could watch from inside ... but as he got older, he wanted to be on the street, and I hated it. It was so cold. I don't think kids feel the cold. :)

Oooooh ...ohhhhh...i wanna come..........no i think you're right kids don't feel the cold!

We may even have nice weather, for a change. :)
