I certainly Don't know... But do you?

Every source says it is not something that has yet to be ruled out But at this time NOTHING points to terrorism.........

Here is my question

If when this hit the news It had been announced

" Major John Silverstein" Baptist Church member,  goes on shooting rampage killing 12 and injuring 30"

would he  have been called a Terrorist as he was on this site within 5 minutes of the announcement of his name.......  OR ... would he be called a Murderer..........

Even now after watching the news it appears he became extremely angry over Not wanting to be sent to Iraq and that he is Protesting the war...

Am I upset this man murdered men and women... Of course I am.... just as I am upset over not just every mass murder but all murders of such ungodly magnitude.....

and most especially this murder of our  armed forces being readied for deployment to Iraq.....

People are murdered everyday in America.. mass murders have happened many times in our society..

Does that make these murderers "terrorists"?  Semantically ...yes...

But where is the indignation of these people screaming "terrorist" against all the other mass murderers in  our Country?

Where is the post calling for the torture and murder of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell who murdered (terrorized) the 11 women found in his home in Ohio this week?.....

Or do the lives of those 11 women mean less because they were not military? or could it be because his name is not Nidal Malik Hasan a  Muslim....?

For Now I will definately call him a pathetic Sick Lone Nutjob........ I'll wait until the facts and the jury are in before I scream "Terroist"

FOR NOW I WILL PRAY for healing for the wounded and for the families of the dead................

God bless the families of those who lost loved ones and those who have been injured.  For the twelve we have lost, they died with honor serving this country.  May they rest in peace, may we all let them go in peace.  As for terrorists, the only terrorists are those whose intent is to continue to spread fear in any way shape or form.

Linda,  I would guess it would depend on Major John's background and if he was shouting that "Jesus is the only way" while he was shooting people.  It is an equation that sums up to the total of it's parts.  If he was Arab and Muslim and shouting that he wasn't following a Black President's orders to go to war, wouldn't that also change how people perceived his motivations?  Right now, all that we have to go on is that he despised the military's actions in the Muslim world (speculation by media) and that he was yelling allahu akbar while shooting people (confirmed witness accounts).

The rest will be filled in the coming hours and days.

Regarless of what you call it,  how terrible.

Your question is if Hasan was a terrorist.  We don't know for sure, but probably not.  It is sounding more and more like a crime of passion vs. a terrorist act.  Any act of killing does install terror in us, but it is "intent" we are talking here, not perception.  We really don't know his intentions.  This will come out.  One thing for certain is that others are accusing this man of the very thing they themselves are now doing:  Terror (striking fear in others), hate, having an ideology, being consumed by religious convictions.  How often do people's accusations come out and merely show reflections of themselves?  But if we dare say anything like this, we will be accused of having more concern for the perpetrator than the victims.  This could be further from the truth.  Those who were slaughtered, died because one man's (or if an conspiracy, a small group's) hatred and narrow ideology.  The dead are victims and so are we as long as people continue to hate.  The dead are dead, may they rest in peace.  Their loved ones, who are also innocent victims, suffer greatly.  Allow them some peace. If the rest of us are so concerned, then we should be concerned for the living, and those who will be the next victims of hatred.  Speak out and condemn hatred when you see it.

Linda- Under what conditions would you call the man a terrorist?

Kevin. he may turn out to be a "terrorist" but it looks doubtful......it seems he went "POSTAL"

What I find distasteful is that within five minutes of his name being announced he was in Fact said to be NOT a "lone Nutjob"  BUT a "Terrorist" and we know what kind Of terrorist that was indicative of.... The poster also went on to blame the Obama administration for this "Terrorist"

I can only hope to see the Same written TODAY about this Lone Nutjob in Orlando... PERIOD... They both went POSTAL over Job Hate....

Hasan went so far to hire an attorney to get him OUT of the MILITARY...

That does not sound like something a terroist would do to INFILTRATE our Military... It sounds like a Nutjob that hated his Job and Wanted OUT and shot men and women cuz he went horribly Crazy cuz they would NOT release him from his job...

again i expect to see Posts from your friends calling this guy a terrorist in Orlando and not just a Mass Murderer.................

Kevin,

Any person or persons who bomb abortion clinics are commiting murder..they should be tried as First Degree Murderers just like everyone else that commits murder that is planned in advance....

Whether one is murdered by bomb, gun, knife, poison or a baseball bat... they have taken anothers life and unless in self defence it is murder........

That is my answer... Not sure what you were looking for from "the left" but I can only speak to my own beliefs on the subject.......

and my question again to you...

Would it seem strange to you for a plotting terroist to be doing everything in his power to GET OUT of the Military?

Oh one more Question...Kevin....

What is the difference between the guy in Orlando who shot 8 people today over job hate and the shooter yesterday in Texas over job hate?

and i read the entire booklet he wrote in 2007 about his opinion on how crazy and deranged people are who are suicide bombers... have you? i suggest you do... Because there is a prime example of the News being TWISTED.....................

yes this is a deranged evil killer but i think we all need to be more concerned with the victims

and I do not see the Bogey man conspiracy that you and your friends do....

We all have the freedom to believe what we want....

so Believe...you need to grab your gun and get trained......

I personally don't see my great patriotic Country in such a deep dark light....

I believe we are the home of the free and the Brave and that NOTHING happens to any of us without God's permission according to His Plan for all of us.....

Linda, I'm not trying to get into any major battle with you on this.  Let me just ask one question.

What is the know phrase "all terrorists" use just before they pull the string or push the button that detonates the bomb vest they happen to be wearing?

I believe the answer is "Alluh akbar".

Early reports on "all" news stations were reporting that this phrase was used by the "suspect" (I use that term even though eyewitness reports say it was him with the two guns shooting at the innocent unarmed soldiers and civilians) just before he opened fire on the crowd.

Because of his (planned and executed) actions, Fort Hood and the surrounding communities were terrorized.  The base was in lockdown, innocent children were kept inschool until it was deemed safe to let them go home, and the communities were on high alert.  The nation itself was glued to the TV and news reports hoping and praying more would not be killed and more "attacks" would not happen elsewhere.  Some of us even shed tears.

To me, this was an act of Terrorism.  This man knew exactly what he was doing and he knew the outcome of his actions.  He wasn't some young kid fresh out of basic training.  This was an officer in the United States Army, who had to have been in the Army (based on his rank) quite a few years.

By the way, Thank you for your compassionate call for prayers for the victims and their families in one of your earlier blogs.

God Bless America and have a great day.

That would be Allahu Akbar, and there is nothing to substantiate the claim by one person that he said that before the shootings.

And your point is?

Terry, was Major Hasan justified?  I call his actions vile despicable evil.  Do you think we provoked him? Do you think he was a sick individual who was tortured as a result of hearing other people's pain?

I wonder in the history of psychiatry how many therapists since the dawn of time have heard painful stories, tales of rape and murder and pain and agony, and then how many of those same therapists have been so moved by those words that they picked up an assault weapon, purchased ammunition and shot innocent people?

It makes me fear therapists. Who knows which one will crack next?

Perhaps we should put all therapists into therapy as a preventative measure so that they don't end up raping rape victims or molesting child molesters?  But if we do, who will give therapy to the therapists who are giving therapy to the therapists?

Linda, I apologize for my spelling error.  Personally, I couldn't care less how it's spelled or if he shouted "TESSY BUGOFF"

As I stated in my comment to you Linda, all the news stations were reporting this.

No Will as I commented to you elsewhere, why don't we just wait till the FBI is done and then form our opinions.  Just because he was brown, had a funny name and was Moslem, does not a terrorist make.

I didn't say he was a terrorist. I don't think his name is funny. I think that Hasan is a mass murderer and a traitor.

His politics and your loony political angle are not important to me.  I look forward to the trial where the families of the victims and the witnesses will publicly shame him, but I don't need the verdict.  I'm willing to accept eye-witness accounts of him holding a gun and firing as evidence enough to conclude that he is evil and vile. He was never terrorized.

Will, (this is a copy of the comment from my other post)

if you are directing your first comment to me...I am not sure why you have assumed such a thing......

I feel no outrage at anyone for what ever they wish to call this man....What i did FEEL within the first hour of this incident occurring was great sadness that many were screaming Terrorist as soon as they heard his name...i found that fact disheartening as to the attitude that we as Americans are still harnessed with such Strong anti-Arab anti-Muslim feelings since 9/11..

I am not saying these feelings are unfounded..... The actions that were taken against America and now our Military are acts of the most unimaginable Evil known to mankind....

Major Hasan is pure evil and a coward... I can only pray that he slipped so deep into Insanity that he is a Mass Murderer who Terrorized innocent men and women... Most who were and are serving their country valiantly.....

Because the repercussions of this being a purely religious Jihadist attack will leave a rippling effect of fear against all Muslims in our Military that will be sad for those of Arab dissent or the Muslim religion that are Proud Americans serving in our Military...

If they prove beyond doubt he was born and raised in America and turned on his brothers in Arms how can any Muslim ever be trusted again.... They Can't in my opinion....

To me yelling Jihad Terrorist before we know only helps to grow the fear in our armed forces serving next to other Muslims... Just my opinion...

Thanks for sharing yours......

I can't say I agree with this statement, "If they prove beyond doubt he was born and raised in America and turned on his brothers in Arms how can any Muslim ever be trusted again.... They Can't in my opinion...."

As it turns out, we now pretty much know that he was born and raised in American and then turned on his brothers in arms for religious reasons.  But I still trust my Musim friends and our muslim soldiers.

Yes, Nidal Malik Hasan (I won't dignify him with the title of "major") is a terrorist. Just not the kind that most people would be likely to associate him with.

Hasan is an individual who has come under the influence of a Stand Alone Complex. As the evidence stands he had no conspiritors, no one helped him and no one besides himself appears to have planned this. Yet his method bears a striking similarity to most popular mass shootings over the last several years. Heavily armed man goes into a populated area, opens fire on everyone in sight and goes down in the effort. The goal is never to simply assassinate, these are not professional hit jobs, and no escape route seems to be planned by these men. There seem to be two goals, terror and glory. To strike fear into the hearts of all who hear their tale, and to be remembered for their actions. These strikes continue to happen all across our nation, from Columbine to Virgina Tech and now to Fort Hood. They are not in cooperation, they have no links to one another. They are the victims of a Stand Alone Complex, similar actions that appear to occur almost in concert, but with absolutely no connections between the perpetrators.

Nidal's mistake was that he failed where the others succeeded. He did not die. It would seem that Allah refused him entrance to whatever 72-woman harem was waiting for him and instead delivered him into the hands of his enemies.
