It includes the extension of the tax credit to military families who have been stationed outside the US for at least 3 months in 2009.

For qualifying families they have until June 30, 2011 to purchase a home a qualify for the tax credit.

Now that is good news!

www.ToulaRosebrock.comHi Cindy:

I guess we are all excited about the tax credit.

There definitely should be extra provisions for our military.

Toula-this originally was in a different bill but was moved and attached to this bill.  There are still some other military tax bills that haven't made it out of committee yet that are needed.

Thanks for sharing this information, I didn't realize there was a portion in the bill specifically for military.  They definitely deserve it.

Carra-you are welcome.  Now I'm waiting for them to repeal the 25% tax penalty that is current in place for military families who use the Home Owners Assistance Program (HAP) to see their homes.

Kathy-they moved it from another bill which still needs to be passed which benefits our military as well.

Cindy  That is good news, but it should have been in the original bill.  It always amazes me that our veterans are alwways last in line - it makes no difference which party is in power.

Karen-it was in another bill that also dealt with removing the tax penalty for the DoD HAP program.  I was glad to see it appear in this bill but they still need to take care of the 25% penality for military families who are eiligible for the HAP program.  That's a big hit!

The government always seems to want to help with one hand and take away with another.
