2 Comments on First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended Into 2010! Plus...A New Tax Credit for Certain Existing Home Owners!
I purchased a home in March of 2009, and received the Tax Credit of $8,000, for the 2008 Filing Year. Am I eligible for the Tax Credit for Existing Home Owners for 2009 Filing Year?
Kevin,
Thanks for the question. No, you would not qualify for the $6,500 tax credit for existing home owners. It is only eligible for those who already own a residence and are moving up to a new home.
"This incentive comes in the form of a tax credit of up to $6,500 for qualified purchasers who have owned and occupied a primary residence for a period of five consecutive years during the last eight years."
