This Momentous Day In History.

Abraham Lincoln

This will be a very short blog.

On this very day in history, November 6th, 1860. Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President of the United States of America was elected.

Today, November 6th, 2009 -- Our President Barack Obama, signed a bill that will have a dramatic effect on the real estate market, as well as the U.S. economy. One of many substantial acts he has made since becoming the first African American President of the United States of America.

To me this is, at the very least, incredibly inspiring.

There is nothing that we as human beings cannot overcome, let that never be overlooked.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Be well,

Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to get a reminder of U.S. history and reflect on how far we have come along as a nation. I hope you have a wonderful friday.

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Brendan,

A coincidence to be sure.  The politics of this is amazing.  Hope we do not regret this legilation in 3-5 years with another wave of foreclosures.

If folks cannot afford to buy ahome, then we should not be helping them.

Wonder how many who went out and bought a new car now wish they did not have a car payment (re: Cash for Clunkers program)?

Dominick,

I agree in part. If folks cannot afford a home, and are using this $8,000 to make monthly payments, then yes, we are in for a hurting. However, I think if people are short funds for down payments and can easily afford monthly payments, then it's fine to help them into a home. That is where I believe the banks need to do a little more diligence work.
