Realtor.com gets into the blogging business

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Shoreline New Hampshire & Maine

One of the newest enhancements Move.comMove.com - Millions of Properties, One Home has made to Realtor.com is free blogs for all (at least that what it says in the email I received from them a couple of days ago and on their FAQ page

"Q. Who can request a blog?

Any member of the National Association of Realtors can request REALTOR.com® Featured BlogTM.

Q. How much does a blog cost?

There is no charge for REALTOR.com® Featured BlogTM."

I like free stuff so I went to take a look at mine

Not too bad for free. It seems to based on some sort of modified WordPress platform

I think I'll stick to KnoxvilleTennesseeRealEstateBlog as my main platform but a few inbound links from my freebie Realtor.com blog shouldn't hurt my SEO efforts.

Here's where to signup for your free, Realtor.com blog

Interesting. Seems a lot of large domains are getting on the blog bandwagon. Like you say, a few inbound links never hurt anyone!

Is it politically correct to use some blog posts from my AR to start building the new blog ?? I would like to do this new one but would want it to have immediate oomph if that is ok with AR. I believe as long as I am the writer I should be able to do thisbut wanted to make sure that was allowed in BlogWorld.

How long did it take for Realtor.com to email you to be able to sign in. I did hours ago and i have not received anything yet.

Hey I signed up for one weeks ago!  I have not received anything from them. It will be interesting to see if we get back links or not.

Buying or Selling? Ann & Jim are the local experts

Since the folks at Move.com like me so well they apparently signed me up and emailed me the login info. ;-)

This is a new venture for them and I suspect if they're truly giving every Realtor in the NAR a free blog they may have underestimated the response and signups just a tad.

Jim, I'm still on the fence with this one. I do not like Realtor.com at all and not sure I feel comfortable giving them my content. I think I'll stay perched on my pole for awhile and see how it unfolds.

BB I too am not a fan of Realtor.com and maybe your approach is best- sit back and see what level  of integrity of the new site holds.

BB et al, these are free standing blogs; not part of Realtor.com or a mega site like Active Rain.

Hi Jim - I signed up for one weeks ago as well, but have heard nothing since then.  I did get a message after I signed up saying they'd send me info when they were ready to go.  Maybe I should check and see what the status is.  They never asked me for my credit card either.

I'm no fan of R.com either, but thought I'd check it out and see what might come of it.  As you said, some inbound links could be worth it.  I don't think I'll put too much content there, but links could be good.

Hmm, just checked yours out and it's up.  Wonder what's up with those of us who they told they'd let us know when things were ready to go????

Ann, you know the love/hate relationship the Realtor.com folks and I have had over the past 10 years.

I have no idea how I got signed up for a R.com blog; an email just appeared in my inbox a couple of days ago with the login information.

Maybe Alan Dalton told the new president about me as he was leaving. ;-)

Jim, you must have some serious pull over there.  Either that, or they read this post and all the readers who commented that they haven't received the login email yet (mine included), because I received my email a few minutes ago!  Maybe they want to avoid you going on a rant since I'm sure they must be aware of your love/hate relationship with them.

I don't think I have any extraordinary pull Leanne but I do know for a fact that they monitor forums like this one, RealTalk, and several others where large groups of Realtors gather.

Maybe they also remember me showing up at NAR Orlando with Alan Dalton's Play-Doh statue and presenting it to him. ;-)

Jim - I'm thinking Allan Dalton put in a really good special word on your behalf before he left.  Really now, how could he not have done that for you???  ;-)

"Love/hate" - that's good as that's just about what it is, too, for me as well.  Well since Leanne just got her email, perhaps mine's on its internet path to me as well.  I'll wait patiently and see......

Jay and I put ours up on the 27th but I can't figure out how anyone would find it. When I went to the home page of REALTOR.com, I didn't see any reference to blogs or searching for blogs.
