New Hampshire Deer Hunting Series Part Two of Two, Firearm Deer Season opens this coming Wednesday 11 November 2009, and goes through to the 6th of December 2009 .

Seeing that we have many homes for sale near and even in the woods, and seeing lots of folks enjoy going out in to the woods near their homes. And seeing that New Hampshire hunters are able to hunt in just about any woods in the State. I'd like ask that Home Buyers, Real Estate Agents, and all those that enjoy going out into the woods of New Hampshire, please use Caution at this time of year. You just may want to think about wearing some kind of
Hunter Orange clothing when your going to near the woods.

Being a hunter myself, it sure makes me sad to have to say this. But the truth of it is, there are some hunters, that just don't think once they get out into the woods!

New Hampshire Deer Hunting Series Part Two of Two, Now I'd sure like to ask all my fellow hunters to use the Rules For Safe Hunting, when your out in the woods.

  • Control the muzzle of your firearm. It should be pointed in a safe direction at all times. Treat every firearm as if it were losded!

  • Be sure of your target and look beyond, before you ever raise your firearm or draw your bow.

  • Wear hunter orange to make yourself more visible to other hunters. Never assume you are alone in the woods.

Although the State of New Hampshire dose not require us to wear Hunter Orange, but the State of New Hampshire dose give us a Hunter Orange Recommendation.

New Hampshire Deer Hunting Series Part Two of Two, Hunter Orange Recommendation: Any person hunting with a firearm or bow during New Hampshire hunting seasons, except for a person iegally hunting waterfowl, should wear a hat, vest or other suitable article of clothing of material in the color of Hunter Orange visible from all sides at a minimum distance of 200 feet.

Be sure you positively identify your target, and beyond, before you shoot!

Dale from one hunter to another we both know the importance of hunter safety. You can never be too cautious. Everything you stated above should be followed. Very good blog information.

...and Rule #1 of hunting:  SAVE THE WHISKEY UNTIL AFTER THE HUNT!

I can't tell you how many times I've seen something stupid happen (not necessarily tragic, but stupid) when the bottle takes common sense out of the equation.  In my mind, 99% of all hunters are great folks, but, like any group, there's always that 1% that makes it hard on everyone around them.

Your sure right about whiskey not haven a place, when out hunting. It sure is sad that 1% has to go off and end up giving others a bad rap. And it sure ain't hunting that can end up happing.

We used to allow people to hunt dove on our farm near Las Cruces, NM - with the agreement that nobody would hunt near where we had people in the field.  That worked well until one day my granddad was plowing & someone rained shot down on his tractor.

That was the end of that!  I didn't see it, but my Dad tells me he'd never seen Poppy so mad! LOL

I sure can understand why your Granddad got upset. I was Bowhunting one time back home, got up in a tree to take a look around the area. Seen a guy that was Dove hunting, and low abd beholed he shoot up into the tree I was standing in. I can tell ya, that I sure did say some words to him that day. And they sure was not, how are you doing, lol

Came back to say it is best to wear the appropriate color when hunting to protect yourself. Early morning and late evening it is hard for folks to see and you sure don't want any accidents.

Carl - Very good point. Folks sure do want to be wearing the appropriate color of Hunter Orange, when out in the woods hunting or just out enjoying the woods. Dring Hunting Season!
