I took this picture during my first inspection today.

I'm always amused by what some seller will and won't do when trying to sell their home. Sometimes it just seems to me like they prefer to ignore some of the most obvious things that are going to come up during the course of the inspection. This one really caught my attention.

Can you tell me what's missing in this photo?

Looks like a toilet has been removed.  No?  Well then perhaps it's a very small indoor swimming pool that has been dug up and never finished.  No?  Then I'll go back to mny original choise of "toilet".

I can't really tell what this is a photo of, but it looks to me like a drain that goes nowhere.  LOL

A missing toilet may become obvious during an inspection.  LOL

It both amazes and amuses me the things home sellers think will pass during an inspection.  Another reason why Agents must be aware of things like this (the missing toilet) before the inspection.

Hi Jenn, well, hmmm.... my old eyes can't tell exactly. But whatever it is, they didn't get this one over on you! I don't know about toilet, unless it is an unfinished bath in the basement. How bout... sump pump? Without the pump? Make the picture bigger next time, LOL, I need new glasses!

Brian- I'm sorry but you're both on two counts. I do like the mini swimming pool idea; maybe that's what they were going for. LOL

Lina- you're half right; this does go nowhere for sure.

Audra- sorry, it's not a missing toilet.

Andrea - you got the first part right, but I guess that's really my fault for not telling everyone that there are two things missing from the picture. The Sump-Pump is one. Do you have any clue what the other is?

Suesan - It looks like a drain that is missing the grate that goes on top.

Sue,

Looks like some pipes have been disconnected.

You're not speaking Southern, Suesan, when you get in basements and mention sump pumps.  I thought is was a missing commode too.

I was gonna guess a toilet. But I see Audra already guessed that, and it's incorrect. Hmmm.

Is that the water heater right beside the hole?

I'm going to guess the table cloth and gravy.

If that is a sump pit, where is the pump, cover, etc.?  Looks like more of a trash pit rather than a sump pit.  Pretty hard to tell exactly from the photo...
