Cobb, California
Pine-covered Cobb Mountain is a 4,722-foot tall peak in the Mayacamas Range between Mount St. Helena and Mount Hannah. The town of Cobb was first settled in 1853 by settler John Cobb and family. Near Cobb on Bottle Rock Road (so named for the abundant obsidian) is the historic Little Red Schoolhouse. Operated as a school for 100 years, it is now a community meeting place. The Middletown Unified School District operates an elementary school in Cobb. Cobb Meadows Golf Course, the Forest Lake Spring Water bottling plant, a market, video stores, post office, gas stations, lodgings and restaurants, and an antique store are the other businesses found on "the mountain." |
