Hitting week 11 we've got 5 judging opportunities left. This has been a long and tough competition. I have to congratulate those teams that have held in there. Coach and apprentice alike have put a lot of effort into creating a successful blog. A number of unfortunate difficulties tripped up some teams early-on but now most active participants are hitting a stride quite well. While only one team will win, a lot of people will gain an improved focus and style for their blogging.

These are the posts by the apprentices. For more information on the Coaches please Check out Joel Burslem's Coach's Corner at The Real Estate Connect Conference Blog.

We are considering ditching the audience Voting all together, in favor of perhaps more public voting.  I'm listening for suggetions.

Caleb - if you did away with the 'audience' voting as you mentioned, who would make up the "more public" voting?  Does that mean people outside AR?

I applaud all the apprentices for hanging in there each week - no walk in the park for sure!

It has been a tough competition and those that have hung in there have really worked hard and had to develop thick skin.

Thanks Caleb, This is such a helpful compilation each week and I really, really appreciate it.

Did some of the apprentices just not post anything again this week? (If so, is there any word from them or their coaches as to what is going on?)

Ann, I don't know if this wold work but if we say...set up blogs (or one blog) which members could comment on...each person commenting would cast a vote.  That way we'd have accountability.  This is only a thought right now.

Or i could pick a time period to have people email in their votes.

Can you get it in there?  Thanks.

Hi Caleb,

I think that the email idea might work, but I also think that the blog post with the vote in the comment would be a good idea as well.  It would definitely ensure that only one vote could be cast by one person for one blogger.  I for one, would be fine with whatever the results were.  I have said all along, that I don't care if it is in my favor or not, if I find out that something is unfair I think it needs to be changed.  What is unfair to one is unfair to all.  And I am confident that everyone involved in Project Blogger feels the same way.

So I think that I would would actually lean more in the direction of the blog comment voting personally.  After all blogging is supposed to be about accountability, right?  And it might help to increase Active Rain membership as well.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a wonderful day!

Even with comments, people can still use fictitious names. It would probably help some. I have been spammed on my own site with people who sign up for my free teleconferences with phony names. It makes me think some people just have too much time on their hands....Too bad

The quality of what's being written and the lessons learned in the process are all good here!!! Congratulations to everyone for hanging in and making lemonade!

Caleb:

Why don't we just keep changing the rules from week to week???  Isn't that what you've done anyway.  You seem to have someone that you want to win, so why don't you just name them now.

Sorry, that I continue to get the readership vote, no matter how hard you try to manipulate me out of it.  I'm over it.  Someone from AR hacked into my site and disabled my site meter...any idea who would have my AR password?????

Maybe it's exactly the same person who wants to keep changing the contest from week to week.

Caleb, If you're looking for a more foolproof way to do the vote, why not have AR members log in, vote and have their name somehow stick to the vote so it can be seen that they only voted once? Not sure if it's technically doable, but that might acheive the desired end (and the vote would be not for one week, but the blog as a whole).

Jackie,  Did you see the results of the manipulations?  We had some weeks with 1,500+ votes and others with around 200.

You might want to do the judging as a "sticky" post. I had a HARD time finding it.

I am shaking my head because last week, the judge gave me a bad time about the My Blog Log widget and this week, the judge is telling people to add it.

Again, if we were a litter of puppies, we'd be biting people by now due to the contradictory reward and punishment situation.

I was disappointed that this judge did not give us any constructive criticism. If I didn't score, I'd like to know what he thinks I could do better (besides add an email subscription button). I agree with Kevin that the blogs are MUCH more than gadgets and widgets.

Congrats to all who scored this week. You all did a great job.

May I also suggest that the judges for the remaining weeks be folks like us who sell real estate, either residential or commercial?

Thanks for the update.

Hi All,

Mary, I heartily concur on all counts.  And even I am seriously getting a little snappish over contradictory information.  I would also have liked a bit more constructive criticism. I would also hope that the remaining judges, even if they do have something to sell, have not sold it to any of us.  That makes the results, no matter how valid they may be, compromised in a way that they should not be.

When you find out that there mighthave been an opportunity for something unfair EVEN IF NOTHING UNFAIR OCCURRED it really makes everything suspect.  Although I am grateful for what I did receive this week, I do wonder if what was on AR and our participation there was given any weight at all.  That is the problem with not having a firm set of criteria to use as measuring sticks - no consistency... hmm, that seems to have been said a time or two before :-).  I was going to continue to discourse on this topic, but see that it is getting lengthy, so I think I am going to observe blog etiquette and complete my discourse on my own personal blog :-)

Thanks again Caleb, for all your hard work and for your attention to the earlier problem :-)

Take care all, help lots of people and have a wonderful day!

Tisza
