Got a few minutes? Go get your cup of tea or coffee I'll wait. Ok now, let's take a photo journey and you'll see some fish that were tickling my feet, butterflies that were providing the fall color display, dancing birds, one very colorful bum, beyond gorgeous sunsets and don't forget about those flippers!

The hustle and bustle of the prime season had passed and the beaches were still warm and welcoming the first week in October.

Sunrise in Destin FL

Let's get up early and catch a glorious sunrise before heading down to the beach ok? I was lucky to catch a bird soaring overhead in this shot. This mornings sunrise wasn't as spectacular as the previous day shown below but it's still great to get up early and catch a sunrise!

Sunrise in Destin FL

bird foot prints in the sand

Humm...looks like someone was here before us.

bird on the beach

 Maybe it was this guy???

flippers

Ahhh...to swim like a fish with these baby's on! As youngsters we would lightly pinch tap a foot or leg while swimming underwater while the counterpart watches the victim person from afar, the water is way too clear here for that type of fun.

Fish by my feet

These guys were tickling my feet! I saw a crab to scurrying on the bottom and watched as he buried himself as I was approaching, then when I was digging around him, he raised and opened his claws while his body stayed buried. That was cool to see! If only I had an underwater camera you could have seen it too!

fuzzy caterpillar   brown and orange butterfly

bright orange butterly

butterfly

The butterflies photographed above were kind that were flying over the azure blue water as I was relaxing on a raft and the fuzzy Oleander caterpillar was munching on lunch. Life is good!

dancing birds

You do it like this...you put your right foot in and take your left foot out... ok stop, that girl is watching us again!

Sunset in Destin FL

How peaceful...another perfect ending to a fun day!

 moon in the clouds

I see you Mr. Moon peeking out of those clouds!

moon

There he is!

a birds bum

Well this is the end of this little holiday and I gotta get back to work so I'll leave you with the colorful bum I promised in the title. Not what you expected??? Tsk, tsk on you!

Are you sure you don't have a tatoo on YOUR bum????  You're right, not what I was expecting, but none the less your photos never disappoint.  I love the sunset, but the moon behind the clouds is my FAVORITE.... that is beautimous.  Didn't so much like the furry crawly not yet butterfly.  Looks like vacation was a delight and I'm so happy to see more of your beautiful photos.  I really  can't wait to see some of your holiday work though... you will be sharing won't you?

LOL@ you Tammy, no graphics on the bum! Thanks so much on your very kind words at my attempt at photography. You know I almost didn't include that one of the moon behind the clouds cause it came out kinda fuzzy. I have NO idea what I'm doing behind the camera...yikes I gotta read the manual one day!

Oh yeah I'll share some designs and soon too! As always it's nice to see pop up on my blog :)

Cynthia - The clouds in the sunrise provide so much texture - very nice. I love all the photos, but anytime you put sunrise, or sunset with ocean in the mix I practically drool. LOL

For someone that doesn't know what they are doing, your shots are really good. What are you using for a camera?

4:19pm • #4

Hey there Steve, thanks so much...still practicing with the new camera!

Hi Judy, since you live near the water I'm sure you get see this kind of scenery quite a bit. I just got a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 at the local Costco for around $270. It's not a SLR but a big step up from the point and shoot I was using, lol. I can usually see the lighting and type of picture but I know nothing about the shutter speed and all the tech stuff etc.

Thanks so much for your kind words, I appreciate it!

Cynthia - That little Panasonic Lumix FZ28 is doing a great job for you!  It has produced some neat looking pictures.  I especially like the one of the feet with the flippers still on.

Great photos.  I spent the morning at the beach photographing the sunrise.

Hey there Tony and Darcy, So glad you cold join me on the beach tour, LOL! Hope you both are doing well.

Hello Myrl, You know that is my favorite one too, I have a thing about photographing my feet. Hey, that type of shot  always turn out ok, LOL! I was surprised about the quality of this camera too.

Cynthia,

Nice and very colorful journey with photos!   I see your friend the butterfly (or someone from the same family as the one showcaed in your avatar).  You got me with the unexpected colorful bum.  :)

Hi Cynthia, Such a gorgeous photo journey to the beach. I love your moon photo!  I think you did an awesome job with it, as well as all the others.  I can't quite decide on a favorite, as they are all terrific.  Love the birds doing the hokey pokey :-)

Hi Cynthia- I loved all of your photos, but have to say got a chuckle out of the one with the flippers. A nice change from the typical vacation photos of people standing in front of a statue or monument and you're so far away so you can get everything in the shot that you can't see the people in the photo.

You really shouldn't put down your photographic talent, girl!  Beautiful shots!  You have a way of shooting out of the box that I just love!  Keep them coming!  Now go step in front of a mirror and look yourself right in the eyes and repeat "I have a talent for photography" over and over until you believe it!

Morning Gerry, Yep, those butterflies were an unexpected treat, is was their particular type of fall color display. I figured the colorful bum part might surprise a few readers, lol! I ran into a few of these exotic birds as the owners were getting ready to attend a festival. Thanks for the visit, my friend in Montana.

Morning Barbara, I'll be looking for photos, that sounds like you have a fabulous subject matter! Thanks for the kind words.

Morning Mary, I like goofing around with the cursor when people hover...you never know what you'll learn by doing it. That line came to me instantly when I saw the pair of birds, glad you enjoyed it and had time to stop by!

Morning Kathy, Well to tell you the truth I loved wearing those flippers with the mask, it was fun...not just for the kids, LOL! You live in a beautiful state, lots to enjoy.

Ok Sharon, thanks for your very encouraging words!!! I'm off to mirror now, but before I go I have to tell you 'out of the box' has pretty been my description for as long as I can remember, LOL...I'm serious.

Morning Carole, I'm so glad you were able to take a break and enjoy the journey, it was my pleasure to show you around!

Cynthia  It takes more than a camera to make great photos - it takes someone with a sense of the moment and you have it

6:23am • #23

Hi John, Thank you for the kind words! You bet I had a ton of photos...that's the great thing about digital photography you can snap away during the day then if you aren't too tuckered out you can the the results instantly on your PC! No worries about wasting film.

Hi Debi, Well let's see...I'll have to blog about one of the things that has been keeping me away, holiday designs for commercial and residential clients. I'll have to take photos of my crazy designer friends too, they are so much fun and I love working together as a team. No divas allowed in this great group, lol :)

Hello Ana, Well that's cool, I hope your daughters enjoyed the birds, if you watch them long enough they all have their own personalities, just like us :) Glad I could start your day on a good note!

Hi there Karen, The sense of the moment, ahhh....that's it in a nutshell and thank you for saying that. I think if you are lucky to be able to recognize that in life then you can steal bits of happiness throughout the day, and that is a treat indeed!

What a fun way to escape for a few minutes, going on your vacation with you!  Wonderful photos, fun commentary and the colorful bum got us all! =o) The butterfly/moth you labeled "hello my lovely", was he a Polyphemus Moth?  They are VERY large, (up to 5 or 6 inches across!)  and his coloring looks similar... I've only seen one in the wild! Again, WONDERFUL photos!

Morning JL, I've never been to the Bahamas, I bet it was gorgeous...I'm envious. I know you and Jamie had a great time and I can't wait to see those photos!

Morning Cheryl, Yes you are invited anytime and I figured the colorful bum might fool a few readers ;) I have no idea what the winged creature is called. I went to the site below and wasted an hour trying to find the species.

http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/map?sf=CommonName&si=10&dc=5756&_dcc=1

I can tell you those creatures were all over the place, is was so cool to them on the beach. I must have looked a fool chasing them around, oh well.

Oh my goodness! I am HOOKED! I have a work to do this morning, and I have "wasted" 30 minutes of my "get ready time" looking at that site!  I did not find my answer either, but what a great site! Thanks...I think!

9:27am • #29

Well Cheryl, you did much better than me :) The site was pretty addictive...I've yet to see a blue butterfly. There were some great beauties on the site! Thanks for the re-visit, it's always a pleasure to see you pop up on my blog.

Morning Gary, Why thanks I appreciate your kind words! I love the new group here http://activerain.com/groups/ActiveRainPhotoBlogger

It's the perfect group where you can post your photo essay. I've done 3 of these types of blogs and they are my favorite kind to write, it gives readers an insight into your personality.

I'll be looking for yours Gary.

Morning Renee, love your current avatar by the way, you holding the little pup so tenderly and your cool hat too.

The beach sand was like white sugar and the Gulf of Mexico waters were absolutely clear up close but from a few feet away it's an azure blue.

Sweet!

Hi there Barabara, I love it but have no idea what I'm doing, I got very lucky with this first go around w/ the new camera! This was a fun place and many beautiful subject to capture. Always nice to see you stop by, I appreciate it!

Hello Larry, Glad I could start you day off on a good note. I know most are not the average shots but my brain works kinda quirky the way I see the beauty around me. (like the bird foot prints) If you put your cursor over the photos there are captions that pop up on my blogs!

Morning Mike, while taking a holiday I had to travel a few hours to get these shots. I have to thank you for encouraging me to get a new camera, oh boy does it make a difference!!! Yes, I lucky to catch those birds doing the Hokey-Pokey for me, lol.

I have desert envy every time I see your spectacular shots you share with us here, they are a treasure! That last one you posted looked like it could be a subject for a fabulous painting.

Morning Sheldon, Yes wouldn't that be cool, I bet before long our children or grand-kiddies will have that technology at their fingertips. I was lucky to have such a beautiful day and subject matter to capture. But I will admit I did look rather silly on the beach running around snapping here & there! Oh well, I did have fun. ;o)

Thanks for popping to say hi!!!
