‘HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE’

Beginning Tomorrow

     Get ready for the holiday season and visit area merchants this weekend as they prepare special hours for you to visit them this Thursday through Sunday, November 5 – 8.  Extended hours are Thursday until 9 pm, Friday and Saturday until 7 pm, and Sunday 1-4 pm.
     And, when you come, please join with the merchants in bringing a can, or cans, of food to share with Chapin’s We Care Ministry.  We Care provides food and assistance to the Chapin area’s needy.
   Visit the following website at www.chapinchamber.com and click on Holiday Open House to see Santa Claus’s schedule as well as more details. 
     Pick up Pat Conroy’s new book, “South of Broad”, at R & T Gifts, 417 Chapin Road (Hwy 76).  They carry a large selection of Gourmet Foods, which you will have a chance to sample. 

     Want something new for your home for the holidays?  Visit Consign by Design, home furnishings on consignment, have lunch or supper next door at Old School Soup and Subs.  Then on the other side, Material Things has lovely items for your home and gifts. These businesses are located at 906-B through 910-D Chapin Road (Hwy 76).         

     Also, you will find more décor and furnishings at Chapin Furniture, 1150 Chapin Road.  If you want something ‘personalized’ for Christmas, look for these gifts at Palmetto Graphix, 200-B Lexington Avenue.

Erin Long, originally from Chapin, SC, is a graduate of Chapin High School, and received her BS in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. She also received her Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management. She has over five years experience between her time in public accounting and Wall Street where she worked as an investment banker. LAKE MURRAY PRESBYTERIAN HOLIDAY BAZAAR
Presbyterian Women at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church are sponsoring their 9th Holiday Bazaar on November 7 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Men of the Church will be serving lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  LMPC is located at 2721 Dutch Fork Road between Chapin & White Rock.  Call 345-5140 for more information.


ROTARY CLUB, NEWBERRY HOSTING COACH BOONE FROM “REMEMBER THE TITANS”

November 7 ELECTRONICS WASTE RECYCLING AND PAPER SHREDDING
     A one day electronics waste recycling and paper shredding event will be held on November 7, from 9.am. until 1 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Harbison Blvd.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14 - ADOPT AN ISLAND

Lighthouse Marina is teaming up with Keep the Midlands Beautiful and SCE&G for the Adopt an Island program.  LHM has adopted Susie Ebert Island on Lake Murray.  Come on out to the marina  November 14 and take a boat ride to Susie Ebert Island to pick up litter with the Lighthouse Marina crew.  We will be launching at 10 a.m. and working until about noon before heading back to the marina for hot dogs.  Call the marina at 749-1554 if you would like to volunteer.

November 17 LAKE MURRAY ASSOCIATION MEETING

The Lake Murray Association quarterly public meeting will be held at Macedonia Lutheran Church, Prosperity.  The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
