I have a redtail Hawk in my back yard that does the same thimg.
Gene, that is pretty opportunistic for the Osprey! Great photos!
Hi
gene
Are all of those big birds Ospreys? If so I ddn't realize they grouped up like that. Looks like vultures sailing.
Hey Gene, I live in a wooded area and have a bunch of stray cats that keep disapearing. I can only imagine that this is the same thing that's going on. Honestly I'll keep the birds, but who now will take care of our field mice? LOL
Wow Gene! Great shot of the raptor! Has he packed himself off south yet? LOL
Debi
Gene, it looks like a Coopers Hawk - here's a link to a blog post I wrote about one who took up residence in my back yard for about a week: Hawk in my Back Yard. Like yours, he was attracted to the birds who came to my feeder - they also feed on small mammals (chipmunks, mice, etc).
Wow, Gene, the look on his face says it ALL! He doesn't need to go south -- in his opinion, he has it made right where he is! Poor little guys who have no chance against him!!!
Trey, I don't know what the big birds flying around are exactly but I know they are some type of bird of prey. I see them in the spring time like that.
Gene, I had a Coopers Hawk and a Sharp Shinned Hawk in my back yard that would go after other birds...I thought Ospreys went for fish. The picture with all the birds might be Vultures as they don't like to flap there wings...they would rather land until conditions were better for soaring...none of these birds seem to be flapping their wings. Great photos.
Hi Gene, great photos! We also have cute little birdies that get snatched up from time to time by the big guys...our backyard is a bit like watching Wild Kingdom!
I too enjoy watching nature and all its creatures. You did a great job capturing them with the lens.
