This is an interesting home in Uptown New Orleans so I took the photo and did a little research. Most of the homes with this Victorian style in Uptown New Orleans date from 1870 to 1905. Atttention to detail was a trade mark for New Orleans in this time period. The wealthy wanted to show off their homes as this was a way to say I have made it.

Interesting that the "boom" was after the Civil War. I wonder where these folks got their money.

Eric, the detail work on this home is exquisite! Wow!!! I can see why it was for the rich then (and probably now!) -- the details probably cost an arm and a leg to do then!!! I am sure the inside is just as amazing!
