Is Home Staging Really Important

IS Home Staging really important?

The Midwest's housing prices have dodged some of the more severe damage from the economy. I know, for example, Milwaukee's home prices have held up pretty well in spite of the tepid times. Nevertheless, no resting on your laurels - staging is still important.

I believe staging is clearly worth the time and effort. I've said it many times - it's a beauty contest out there and REALTORS® who understand how to apply makeup correctly and dress their listings appropriately will win the pageant!

In fact, according to professional stager Barb Schwartz, 95 percent of staged homes sell (on average) in 35 days or less. Those not staged take 172 days or more. And, of course, now you can get accredited in home staging; it's called the Accredited Home-Staging Specialist (AHS).

In my opinion, when it comes down to it, you have two choices: (1) lower your price below what the competition is selling for even though your listing is the same size, in the same location and has the same amenities, or (2) make your listing more attractive. It really dosen't cost all that much.

Hi Jason ~ Absolutely, staging makes a difference.  And, it helps to have the ASP certification when working with Sellers.  If you haven't already done so, take the ASP course from Barb Schwartz.  It is one of the best and most valuable experiences I have had in real estate.
