Consider multiple candidates when choosing a listing agent to sell your home
Selling your home is a pretty big deal - it could be one of the biggest and most important transactions you will ever make. One of the most important steps along the way is finding the right agent to sell your home. Keep the following tips in mind when choosing a listing agent.

The Friendship Factor. Be careful when selecting a friend as your listing agent. You need to establish strict standards during the decision process just as you would when choosing a doctor or school for your child. If a problem or complication arises during the selling process, you don't want it to jeopardize your friendship. It also may be hard for your friend to take an objective look at your home when staging it for the market. It's okay to consider him or her as a candidate, but there should be other agents in the running as well.

Do Your Homework. Just as employers consider multiple candidates for jobs, you should do the same when looking for a listing agent. Ask for references from recent customers of each agent under consideration. Experience should also be looked at, but it's not the end-all factor. Newer agents can often be just as in tune with real estate trends. And with technology constantly changing, you want an agent who is technologically savvy.
