I have noticed that each time my Hp toner cartridges are empty it still is at least half full. With a little research I came to realize that that the full empty status is controlled by the reset chip and not by how much toner is actually in the cartridge.

If the reset chip is replaced badda boom ,badda bing.......I have a full cartridge again and there is no wasted toner. I recently purchase a full set of 4 chips on ebay for less than $25.00.

I an HP2840 at my Fontana home office. Replacing the chip is easy and I did not even have to remove the cartridge. the chip has two-way tape and sits on top the cartridge so all I had to do was remove the old and replace with the new. So for about $6 ..............NEW TONER.  No need to refill the toner or buy a new one.

That seems like a class action suit waiting to happen. Specifically designed to report less than is actually there? Booooooo to HP.

Now this is news I can use.  I use and HP2550 and go to a place that refills cartridges.  When I had a bad one, I took it back and all he did was replace the chip.  Thanks!

My Samsung will do that sometimes but it is a software problem.  Took forever to find the solution but I found it on a forum.

Many of the other printers do not use chips and the cartridge is actually empty when it says empty.

Anthony - Great money saving tip.  While I have a different printer, I go online to see if I can find a fix for mine.

The toner is the cash cow, that is why they can give us the printers for free.
