The MOLD THAT EATS HOUSES: MERULIPORIA INCRASSATA

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Turtle Clan Global

There truly is a MOLD THAT EATS HOUSES!

The mold is called Meruliporia Incrassata.

Sounds pretty gross and scary?? Worse than termites? I thought so too.

That's why I'm sharing what I know  about MOLD with all of you, so you'll be informed and empowered!

Had a client call about this a few weeks ago who had suffered severe water damage over a long period of time, and subsequently had alot of mold in his home

Here are some pictures of this particular species of mold:

It needs lots of water to survive like all molds, and it secretes onto wood literally dissolving it.

I also found this very informative article on the subject that I thought you would like at the following link:

Amazing,  I've never heard of anything like this.  Is this a common type of mold?  Have you seen any homes destroyed by this type of mold?

Lesley - This is very valuable information.  Does this type of mold only live in certain areas of Canada and the USA?

Hi Charles!~

Mold is pretty amazing!! and super efficient at what it does which is breaking down its food source so it can eat!

Hi Mark and Theodora!

Thank you for coming by and your kind words!

We have only come across this mold a couple times in all the years we've been testing.  And yes, it was extremely devastating to the dwelling causing significant damage...almost ike a MOLD-TERMITE!!

I would love to know if anyone else has come across this...that's why I did this post

Isn't it interesting to think that no one really understands where molds and fungi came from...they are almost extra-terrestrial! This one actually grows straw-like suckers to get to the water!

See why no one likes to talk to me anymore!!! I should be named Missgrossout!!lol

Glad to have a mold expert in the community.  With so many mold issues these days I would think that your services are doing well.   Have you joined any building inspector groups?

Glad to be of service, Charles!

But I think I'm starting to gross everyone out!

Business has been hanging in there even though we got significantly hit last year. We have been getting steady referrals from our home inspectors and Realtors thankfully.

We also diversified our business to pursue government contracts for 'Super Fund' work. Government always seems to have plenty of money to spend!lol

Just started looking though home inspector groups to join..any recommendations?
