As bloggers, we have our followers and regular readers. Occasionally someone will stumble onto our blogs - we like that. We like for our blogs to be seen by as wide an audience as possible. Enter the re-blog.

At first, I wasn't sure about this, but I've had several of my posts reblogged and I've able to share others' posts on my site. The beauty of this is that I can help you share a great message, and you can do the same.

Now, the issue, at least twice in the past week I found a post that I wanted to share and I couldn't. The member had not marked it for re-blogging.

When you create a post, it is seen by so many people. If it happens to be re-blogged, it is seen by even more people. Google sees it more than once also.

If you want the maximum exposure for your post, check the box for re-blogging. Enable other members to share your message.

Steve, This is a very good and informative point of view.  I have never tagged my posts for re-blog because my thought-process is very different - not so much possessive as protective.  I will begin utilizing this feature.

Hi Steve~  I have caught information on re-blogs that I would have otherwise missed!  I didn't quite get it when they first mentioned  being able to mark our blogs with the ability to re-blog.  Now I get it and think it is a great idea!

Kenneth,

Great. There's no telling how many posts might get reblogged, but without enabling it, none will be. :)

Steve,  I think this will be helpful to many who don't even think about the re-blogging feature.  I know I have caught several posts that I would have missed and was thankful that they had been reblogged.  I also have started to re-blog several excellent posts, but couldn't pass them on because they had not been marked for reblogging.

Another point, I have often gone back to the original post and left comments because that is the person who wrote the post.  Now, I am going to start making an effort to comment to the re-blogger and thank them too.

Gary,

These are all great comments. Thank you. I think commenting on the original post and the reblogged one is a great idea. :)

Paul,

You don't need to ask permission if it is given on the original post. :)

Good advice, Steve and it is an honor to be reblogged.

Steve,

I have reblogged a few, not many. I have been reblogged a few times as well. It seems a good idea.

Many are worried that it will lower their control.  And it does lower it a little... but the return is much better than the little bit of control that might be lost.

I have had my first reblog this week by numerous people, I was actually flattered that some prople thought the post was good enought to re-blog. I mean I do try to make my posts interesting and informative, it just felt like I had accomplished something "extra" when I got re-blogged...

Steve,

Re-blogging can be overdone. It shouldn't replace normal posts - just add to them. :)

Lane,

I don't see it as a cpontrol issue. I see it a being able to reach more people. :)

Steve, FYI, unless us newer members pay to be rainmakers, our blogs are not eligible for reblogging. I check that little box every time, and was asked at one point about one of mine. That's whan I found out that until I pay, no one can reblog my posts....

Shoshana hit on a valid point.  Non-RainMaker blogs are always members only.  They can't get a re-blog... nor can they re-blog.

Shoshana,

You are right - maybe this would be a reason to upgrade to Rainmaker status. :)

I tried to reblog a good post last week but it was a members only.  The originator went back and switched it over to public and then I hit the reblog button.  I actually ended up reblogging two as there was a great one about looking for signs of a stroke that I thought was good advice for all.
