Social networking, THE hot item on the web these days. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace (well, kind-of), ActiveRain--the list goes on & on. So, here is my question for you (actually, several, I suppose), please answer via comments:

Are you a member of ActiveRain? (Pretty good bet that a YES here!)

Are you a member of LinkedIn?

What about Facebook?

OK, here is where it gets a little more interesting:

Are you a member of the ActiveRain Group on LinkedIn?

What about a member of the LinkedIn Group on ActiveRain?

The ActiveRain Fan Page on Facebook?

The LinkedIn Fan Page on Facebook?

And the Facebook Group on LinkedIn?

Starting to see a pattern? Thoughts: Good? Bad? Irrelevant? Useful? Overdoing it? Great support opportunities? Reinventing the wheel?  ???

Looking forward to your responses--thanks for taking the time to comment!

Best,

-JC/CBA

The SEO power of these sites are often overlooked.  Social networking...ok.  But the real power is in the SEO juice you get from these sites.

Well now, I am a member at several of these sites and guess I should add the rest to complete all of the connections. Thanks!

Same here you lost me by fan pages. Is there really benefit associated with fan pages on facebook? Does anyone looks at that?

Great post.  I'm headed over to check those groups out.  I missed a couple of them.

I think I'm a member of an AR group on Facebook. I use AR, Facebook, and LinkedIn, but for different purposes. Also, I don't use any other social media type as I try to balance my time.

Interesting! I am a member of the Active Rain group on LinkedIn, but I didn't know about the Active Rain Facebook group.  I do think the other groups are useful as they give you a chance to keep up with the people in your network if one site is down.  I always say that it's a bad idea to put all of your social media eggs in one basket. Great post!

John- I am a member/fan of the above groups, probably I am the most active on the A/R Group on Linked In which serves a definite purpose because my engaging in discussions and posting news articles I am able to reach additional eyes that might not have ever read my blog.
