Well, Not too much I can say regarding this because I do not listen to Lou Dobbs nor CNN very much other than Larry King Live or maybe when there is a huge Live News event taking place somewhere...

I do know he is known for speaking out on Immigration and The Bailouts....

No news yet as to where he goes from here...

Perhaps he aspires to Politics... Who Knows....

But doubtful ? /

Maybe he plans on going nowhere as I read a report that shots were fired outside his home last week... Crazy people in this world... to say the least........

perhaps his wife whom i hear was outside their home as the shots were fired convinced him "it just isn't worth their lives"?

I certainly wish him success where ever he goes...maybe he will make a bid for President...

Here is a clip of Lou Dobbs

Linda,

I hadn't heard this.  I've liked Lou Dobbs since the first time I saw his show on CNN.

Mike,

Tonight was his last and final show... he has been with CNN since it's creation.....

They say it came as a shock even to most of his staff today....

Good F-ing riddance!  Old sourpuss.  He lost more sponsors than Glenn Beck.  He's still one of the 'birthers'

Aaron, Yes I was just reading that... Since I never watched him I didn't really know much about his views..

Yes Aaron, once again it shows that if someone doesn't agree with the same things you do, you can just put them down.  And to think he is on CNN and not Fox News!  What a disgrace to CNN!  When all else fails, there is always name calling!

Linda, I had not heard this.  I always enjoy watching Lou Dobbs, he's never afraid to speak his mind whether his network agrees with him or not.  Shame on you CNN!

This is what he said and this, I believe, is why he must go.  He can not do this at CNN, obviously...

"Each of those issues is, in my opinion, informed by our capacity to demonstrate strong resilience of our now weakened capitalist economy and demonstrate the political will to overcome the lack of true representation in Washington, D.C. I believe these to be profoundly, critically important issues and I will continue to strive to deal honestly and straightforwardly with those issues in the future."

Those issues, he added, are defined in the public arena "by partisanship and ideology rather than by rigorous, empirical forethought, analysis and discussion," and he vowed to work to change that.

He'll have to go to Fox, where he can join the rodeo of wannabe journalists...

Gary,

CNN wanted to keep Dobbs.. It was Dobbs who insisted they release him from his contract.... So it really isn't a "Shame on CNN" situation.

I would think Dobbs would be far happier out on his own or somewhere he can strongly voice his opinions..

As we all know CNN and MSNBC for the MOST part (not all) try to conform to News Anchors...

While Fox is Mostly Journalists who can freely discuss their opinion on matters....

It is not a Right or Wrong situation just a matter of preference..

I prefer watching a channel that gives me fact without opinion... I would rather form my own thoughts based on actual data...

To what good does it avail anyone to be instructed by the MEDIA what we should think about ANYTHING...

in my opinion the MEDIA represents EVERYTHING that is WRONG with the World....After all ..they are in it JUST for the MONEY......

Linda Mae,   Thanks for understanding!  I am glad it was not something you felt you needed to say in your post.  I appreciate that and that is what I am getting at.  :)

John, so sorry to call him a sourpuss.  I know you won't bother to watch this, but after a while, these are the reasons for my disdain.

Linda Mae, when Dobbs stopped being a "news" reporter and started presenting his opinions, I believe that is when CNN decided to drop him.  Afterall, they are a news organization,  not an entertainment network such as FOX.

Welcome back Terry - I heard somewhere that Dobbs said he was allowed to opine during the last two years of the Bush administration.  No problem with CNN as long as he was criticizing Bush.  The problems arose when the criticism turned to the Obama administration.

Update

Here's a quote from a NY Daily News article:

"You know, I discern more of a difference between then, which was under the Bush administration whom I was criticizing, and now, when it is the Obama administration and an entirely different tone was taken," Dobbs said.

Patrick, for the time being I am commenting on the behalf of Linda Mae, until she gets back on her feet.  I can't speak for her, but I dont remember Dobbs doing any conspiracy opining during the bush years.

I'm sorry to hear about Linda Mae being ill. I pray she has a quick recovery and all will be as it should be soon.

And my 2 cents worth, I don't know much about Lou, or other talking heads other than it's all entertainment now. Very little news without adding comments and opinions. It's more like Pro wrestling now. I recall coming across Wolf Blitzer one evening and he was just coming back from a piece from another reporter and he said "Thanks John and it looks as if the American public is still running scared, as well they should be." Now I never heard what the report was on, but does it matter? ... as well they should be? Why would a reporter of news ever add a line like that except to sensationalize. Whatever it was must, have been pretty scary stuff. There is no difference between CNN, NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS... all the same ratings seekers. My blood pressure is lower after turning them all off.

One more thing, that clip was edited and posted by mediamatters. And in this corner... The Crusher........

Feel better soon Linda Mae. Blessings, Bob

I listen to CNN in my car most of the day.  The Lou Dobbs show is the one show that always made me change the channel to the sappy love song station.  I have felt this way for years so it has nothing to do with Obama vs. Bush.  I just personally don't like to listen to heavy based opinion journalism.  This is why I don't listed to either conservative or liberal radio.

I am not sad to see him go because I think he is the wrong fit for a news station that ATTEMPTS to be a bit more balanced.
