"Columbus?"

Columbus Skyline

"Columbus?" is the headline of a blog post from a Pittsburgh blogger.

What does Columbus Ohio have in common with  New York, Los Angeles, London, Chicago, Rome, Madrid, Toronto, Houston, Washington, Atlanta, Paris, Seattle, San Diego, Austin Texas, Minneapolis, Denver, San Francisco, Portland Oregon, Dallas, Singapore, St. Louis, Jakarta, Brooklyn NY, Philadelphia, Mexico City, Montreal, Beijing, Moscow, Mumbai.

"Blog Belt status" according to the story he quotes in Business Week.

Reaction by Pittsburgh blogger Mike Madison of Pittsblog:

 "Columbus?"

The lists are the usual large metro areas and wired and wireless meccas. And Columbus, Ohio, which comes in at number 30."

Business Week's Graphic of the Blog Belt  is described:

As Net connections spread, Web 2.0 services are expanding. On a recent day, these were the top 30 cities for blog postings and comments, divided into three tiers by levels of activity.

The Business Week article is very long.  I have not fully digested it yet.   It was one day.  Maybe Columbus was particularly bloggy on that day.

I am sure many in Cleveland, Cinci, Akron, Dayton, Toledo, Youngstown as well as Indianapolis, Detroit and others are saying "Columbus?"  World class blogging from Columbus?

Columbus Ohio is a stop on Blog Tour USA  in July 2007.

Maureen.

What an absolutely beautiful photo in the header.  I've got to get out more.  We have so many lovely areas around here too.  You've inspired me.

Lenn it is a Wikipeidia image that was released into the public domain.  It is pretty though.  I wish I was better at taking photos.  It works great with the AR colors.

I should have gone out with a camera today.  We are supposed to get well needed rain tomorrow.

Thanks for the comment.

Maureen--Interesting! Were you particularly busy blogging and commenting that day??!! Maybe you were able to sway the stats. LOL

I see Minneapolis was on the list too. I wonder how they decide where Minneapolis starts and St Paul begins or is it all lumped together as one.

Teri: It may have just been me.

That is interesting I bet it is the Twin Cities, I saw Denver and thought of Kristal, San Diego and thought of Roberta Murphy and Brian Brady... saw Minneapolis and thought of Teresa and Bonnie, of course they are St. Paul.  Thanks for the comment, Teri.  Would your area be lumped into Minneapolis depending on where they draw the line?

Phoenix the  epicenter of real estate blogging is not there... I think that is what Brian Brady called Phoenix once.

Bless you Doug.  Columbus is nice but we don't have mountains like you do. Or much water... just a couple of rivers.  Thanks Doug!!!

You definitely have to be the one that put C'lumbs on the blogging map. That's one of the prettier shots of the skyline. Next, you'll have to add one that shows the Red, White & Boom fireworks with the skyline in the background.

I always am on the east side of the river for the fireworks...so the skyline in behind me... I wonder if I could watch Red White & Boom  backwards (from the west side of the river)?  hmmmmmmm

Go to west of Miranova over the  Town or Rich St bridges to watch it from the south. Isn't a large part of the west side blocked off for the actual shooting of the rockets?

It's just blocked off in front of COSI I think. Don't people park in Vets Memorial parking lot? There are really no parks west of river near Miranova.  I was thinking of from the angle of this picture (which I did not take.)  I assume this is from North Bank Park.  We will probably go and sit with our back to the skyline as usual.  It's a tradition.

Actually, I've heard that Rhodes Park on the west side of Columbus (near W. Broad and 70) is a spectacular place to watch the fireworks (and avoid the crowds).

Thanks Kelly.  I will have to look up Rhoads park on a map.

This year we sat in North Bank Park which was a lot less crowded than downtown but..... we found parking real close unfortunately.  We were totally trapped for hours after the fire worksubn the grid lock....

"Park far out and walk in" are words to remember next year.  I will look for Rhoads Park.
