In comparing the September 2009 figures to 2008 figures the 2009 Multiple Listing Service report by the Austin Board of Realtors shows signs of improvement.

This is no news to us who are in the market and have listings selling and buyers purchasing.

There was an increase of 6% in September 2009 with 1,780 homes selling verses 1,683 homes sold in 2008.  The median home price for Austin is up 2% to $185,250. Austin's quality of life, lower unemployment rate and economic growth keeps Austin in the limelight for one of the top destinations in our country.  I had a student in a University interview me for a paper he is working on .

One of his questions was: "If you could do real estate anywhere where would it be? Or would you stay in Austin?"  My answer was an emphatic "Absolutely in Austin!!"

Hi Dorie,

I enjoyed reading your blog and your confidence in your city of Austin.  I have been there twice in the last couple of years for some Keller Williams seminars and I enjoyed your city very much.

Great graphics-this is a very attractive read.  I am curious how the university student found you.  Was it your web presence or advertising?

Hi Robe,

Things are picking up but keep in mind our market did not free fall like many areas around the country. I actually bought one of your Honda's in the early 1990's! Great car!!Great Service!! Howdy!!

Hi Bruce,

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your visits to Austin. The student has parents living in the neighborhood I market. They sent him to my website and blog and he made contact.

Dorie, it sounds like some of the seeds you have planted in farming the neighborhood are starting to bear some produce!  That is great!

Hi Bruce,

We have been marketing to our neighborhood for over 10 years and enjoy over 30% of market share so feel we are doing something right! When you were here did you get out to Lake Travis?

Dorie, we stayed in the city center close to the convention center.  When we were last here in August we stayed at the Holiday Inn on Towne Lake(Lady Bird Lake now?) and loved the view of the river.  Hopefully you have had some rain-it was SO hot and dry!  I have heard of Lake Travis when I was looking for hotel rooms-I'll have to get out my street map and look for it.

Hello Austin Dorie!  Those numbers definitely show signs of improvement in Austin.  It's always great  to hear good news - so thanks for sharing this bit of it!  I know Lake Travis, HGTV built a Dream Home there several years ago :-)

Bruce,

This was the hottest summer we've had in a LONG time! Finally we have gotten rain but Lake Travis still needs to come up another 40 feet! It is in the NW part of Austin in the hill country. When you return make sure you go out to the lake to the Oasis and really enjoy the views! Steiner Ranch Steak house has now opened and the views are awesome!!

Dorie - It has certainly been a lot busier for us this fall than it was last year.  I only wish that lenders could speed up the process a bit.  :)

Hi Jason,

Yes it has and I agree totally with you about the lenders speeding up the process.

Great! I'm glad you got it. We have 4 UT students delivering them today. One of the students works in our office as a part time receptionist. With college expenses rising as they are we like to keep them busy making extra money!

Hi Toula,

I appreciate your good wishes. We have not experienced the downturn like other areas of the country so feel very fortunate.
