Beginning Friday, November 13. Thunder Tower Deck the Halls Contest. Each Thunder Tower Department will decorate in the Christmas Spirit and we want you to be the Judge! Sunday, November 15. Roller Derby! Come see live roller derby brought back to the capital city! The Richland County Regulators Roller Derby team are hosting the Rogue Rollergirls from Fayetteville NC at the National Guard armory on November 15th! Doors open at 5, with tailgating beforehand! Great halftime show, good food and drink and awesome company! Partial proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Harvest Hope Food Bank. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Sunday, November 15. 14th Annual Oyster Festival. The South Carolina Oyster Festival is Columbia's largest outdoor oyster roast with more than 5,000 pounds of fresh oysters served steamed and fried. The family-friendly event will feature lots of free children's activities along with inflatable amusement rides for a nominal fee, live music, tours, food and drinks. Experience a full day of activities on our historic grounds with oysters by the serving, a variety of foods, soft drinks, beer, and a special wine pavilion. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and strollers. And, don't forget to bring your oyster shuckers and gloves or purchase them at the festival. Thursday, November 19. Farmers Market. There's only two markets left before closing for the season so make sure to stop by from 3-7 p.m. in Town Center at Lake Carolina! You'll be sure to see crafts and other great gift items as the holidays draw near! To celebrate the close of this successful season, the "Horse Whisperer" Bruce Anderson and the folks at Folly Farms will be joining us! Bruce will be demonstrating his work while sharing with us the things he has done for law enforcement officers, educational groups, mental health groups and more.
