Take this quiz to see how your lifestyle is impacting upon our planet and its resources.

Tucson, like much of the rest of the country, is offering numerous earth-friendly alternatives in home construction. In an effort to lessen the ecological footprint we all leave behind, there is a wide range of options available from simple solar energy conversion to rammed earth and straw bale construction. Rammed earth and adobe structured walls lessen the heat/cold transfer from the exterior to the interior of the home, thereby making internal temperatures more stable and less costly to maintain at comfort levels. Tucson, like most arid climates, experiences vast temperature variations between daytime and night temperatures for most of the year, excluding the Monsoon in summer late June-August.

For those considering green construction and want interior finishes and materials that are non-toxic and environmentally friendly we have a resource right in Tucson's downtown located at 526 N Ninth St. - Originate Natural Building Materials Showroom.

Tina -- from looking at your photo --your footprint is very small --  I went to school at the U of A many moons ago and boy was it HOT!   One summer, I stayed in the old dorms which were not air conditioned -- it was not fun -- 100 degrees at 11:00 at night!   I didn't see lot of green building back then -- however, it is good to hear that a lot is going on in Tucson now!
