Do you remember the interview that Barbara Walters had with Katherine Hepburn  many years ago where she uttered those words?  For some reason that came to mind today when I saw this unusual looking tree.

Maybe if I was a tree I would be a  London Plane Tree.   Not only does this tree have an unusual camouflage  looking bark but it bears interesting fruit that looks like Christmas ornaments hanging on the branches.

I took these photos today at Coote's Paradise in Hamilton, Ontario.   A pretty cool looking tree, I think.  So, if you were a tree, what kind would YOU be??

Jenny - Your post made me think of a line from an old rockabilly tune the "Tall Oak Tree" but could not remember anything but so I googled Tall Oak Tree and found the lyrics and a YouTube of Dorsey Burnette singing it from back in the 50,s

Jenny your photos are gorgeous as usual.  I would be a Blue Spruce, as they are my favorites, and I think so beautiful :-)

If I were a tree around here, I'd be cold and wet.  And I'd just have to stand there and take it.

Doesn't sound good.

I'd be a Black Walnut.  On our family farm is one that is 140 years old and 60 feet high.

Blogs are written by fools like we.

But only God can make a tree.

Jenny - I first saw the post last night but still don't have an answer.  However, I do need someone to bring me back a palm tree (or a few palm trees) when they are down south. :)

Jenny, like the song Meatloaf sang "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" Marc hit the nail almost on the head.  We would be Palm Trees in the Sunny South, somewhere overlooking the Ocean.

Hi Jenny, I'd be a Bristlecone Pine. They live high in the mountains, and get to be as much as 2,000 years old! How else could you be that old, and still be beautiful? At least in the eye of the beholder, that is... LOL

Jenny,

That is a neat looking series of pictures. One thing for sure, I'd have to be a southern tree - no snow for me. :)

Good choice, Jenny.  In Indiana we called that a "sycamore".  I love the beautiful bark.

Jenny - As much as I love the mighty oaks, I'd likely be a Willow - Capable of bending!

I don't believe I've ever seen one in my area like this.  Now you have me curious about whether they are in my area at all!  (I'll have to Google them :-)

Haven't thought at all about what type of tree I'd be.  Now there's food for thought for the day.  Thanks Jenny!

Hi Fred - I hear they are growing palm trees in Vancouver now?

Hi Jenny, I think I would be a Live Oak.  They are strong and hearty trees... very stable, steady and well rooted, kind of like I am.

Thanks Kathy - I must say I'd never heard that song before.  I wonder how many songs there are about trees??

Hi Debra - What kind of tree is it?  I can't see it too well.  You need to make the pics bigger lol. Nice sunset btw.

Hi Mary - I love blue spruces also.  So pretty to look at and not prickly to touch.  Guess what I saw today?????????  Guess you'll just have to wait and see. I'm going to write a post about it and you are going to be in it.

Hi Jim - I love the prose that comes out of you.  Do you have a photo of that tree?  It must be something else.  Lots of tales to tell, eh?

Hi Marc - when we were in Cuba last month I was disappointed that there were so few Palms along the beach.  They had all been destroyed  by the hurricane a year ago.  Here's a cool palm I took a shot of in Orlando when I was there at the NAR conference last year.  This was taken at Disney Main Street.

Al & Peg - Oh man, another palm?  Hang on, I've got to go searching again.

Oh here you are.  I saw you on the beach in Punta Cana.  You were a marvellous looking tree.

Hi Debi - Where's the photo?  I'd love to see one.  Not sure if they grow in these parts.

Hi Steve - well there must be some other southern trees besides palms.  Was it you who said you grow sea grapes?  I guess that's just a bush or shrub?

Hi Sharon, when I was researching it I did see it was also called a sycamore.  It sure is unusual. Thanks for joining in the fun.

Hi Myrl, Funny you should mention the willow.  I actually saw some in the same park as this one.  So you like to bend, eh?  There is a bylaw here in Oakville whereby you can't plant willows anymore.  Too messy they say.  Here you are Myrl, and what a lovely speciman you are.

O.K. Kris, while you are thinking I just decided what you are.  You are the naked birch I shot the other day.  Very striking even wihout your  leaves.

Hi Steve, I agree you are all those things.  But a live Oak?  As opposed to a......dead Oak?  I love Oaks to but then I'm from Oakville lol.  Even live Oaks shed dead leaves.  But they are pretty, dead leaves.
