Sylvia - Great idea to set up a page for your church! That's an excellent way to give back while still maintaining a business presence.

TLW - If not for yourself, you should at least be on Facebook to keep an eye on your family (and maybe even a few competitors!) I've added some links to other Facebook posts I've written that should help you further understand and implement fan pages.

Hey John. I recently made the move to have a fan page on Facebook. I have been fighting it for awhile because I didn't want to keep up with two different facebook sites. In an attempt to separate business from family I did. The jury is still out. If anyone wants to visit my fan page the link is below.

One great way to market your Facebook fan page is to include it in your syndicated single property websites as a link or a tab. That way you "push" your Facebook presence out to the real estate classifieds sites - it is easy to do and free.   A great example is this syndicated listing (Janie Coffey, Florida) :

I'm new at this too, and have set up a page but really don't know how to use it.  Marchel, I have to go to my home page, and in the search box at the top I start typing Big Rapids (part of the name of my fan page) and the link to my fan page appears as a drop down to click on.

I tried to do another as a separate page, but it just linked to my profile again. (didn't really want it to).  Does anyone know how to do a fan page separate from your profile?

improve your fanpage rankings. Think hello goodbye by the Beatles when reading this next part. So you fan me, I fan you, we both rank high in the big

Thanks for the great post.  I created a fanpage a while ago, and thought I hadn't put it together correctly, and meant to get back to it.  When I checked back today, I found I had fans!

John -- thanks for this excellent info.  I've bookmarked it and will add it to my Things To Do list (which sadly is just getting longer and longer with all the social media stuff I should be doing ...)

Wow, this was very heplful. I created a fan page for my office awhile ago and did nothing much. This is good way to seperate the Facebook with the more public Fanpages. So I created a few fan pages that I need to work on.

    Eva Aliaga Realtor

    Delray Beach Real Estate

    Boca Raton Real Estate

    Century Village Boca Real Estate

    Thanks for the information.

Hey John!! Thanks for posting!! I will be working on my fan page in the next couple of weeks...time to make it shine!!

    8:30am • #113

This just in if you fan my page. Ashevile Homes FaceBook fan page I will fan you back.  Now why would you want to do that. How about 25 fans equals a vanity URL like  this www.facebook.com/ashevillehomes  (here's a hint the URL has SEO and print marketing value) Not to mention the more fans the better SEO you will have for your page.  Don't forget google indexes Fan pages not profiles.

John, I was doing the virtual bar camp most of the day tomorrow, but I hope to go through some of your stuff tomorrow to better my page.  Are you still planning a way to help us increase our fans?

How about a post on how to set up a Facebook business page? I can't find anything about it anywhere on Facebook yet I keep reading about it, as in many of the comments here.

    Best wishes!

John, I'm with Russell.  I have set 4 pages up as I represent 4 areas but now I'm floundering trying to figure out what goes on them.  How do I get my AR links to go to the pages? Is there someway that I can get only certain post to link to a certain page?  I've been looking for tutorials but like Russell have not been successful.

I have several Facebook pages but the most relevant one for Active Rainers is Social Media Marketing For Real Estate & Mortgage Professionals. I also just wrote a guest post on a Technorati Top 100 Small Business Blog on 5 Ways to Promote Your Facebook Fan Page. I hope you can find some value there. My article is on page 1 of Delicious and TweetMeme right now.

Just curious how much business agents are getting from Facebook? I guess even 1 lead makes it all worthwhile?

Hi John.  Thanks for the invite to post our fan pages.  I have one but find it difficult to put anything on there that is not on my blog.  Quite a bit of overlap.  Anyway could always use more fans:
