I just checked my credit score last week and while it is a great score, it could be better with a very simple solution. To my surprise I have close to 30 credit cards, even though I only use one for my business and two for my personal spending, I often apply for a credit card which making a large purchase at a retail store in order to get a 10% discount on the purchase. I would cut up the card as soon as I got it, but the three credit bureaus take that into account when scoring someone's credit. So I am now in the process of trying to cancel all those cards that I didn't know I had!
