Please welcome Carys Victoria Geoghan!

Born at 2:35 this morning - at home!  We were blessed to have an awesome midwife, Diane Goslin, agree to take us yesterday after Ephrata Hospital refused to honor our natural birth admission us even though we had preregistered 3 months ago.  I'll be posting about that sometime very soon (because even though it's not Real Estate related - hey, this is MY blog and I think it's important that Lancaster women know about Ephrata Hospital's poor customer service).  Our difficult day yesterday trying unsuccessfully to find a hospital that would take us ended up wonderfully when Diane said we were already far along and things would go well!  She was right.

I'm a big believer in natural birth now...I'll post on that too.

Thanks for all your support and thoughts & prayers!  We appreciate you...

Congratulations!!  That is one cute baby.

I am glad everything worked out in the end.  That must have been a nightmare with the hospital.

Her chubbiness makes her look so perfect!  You must be just so excited!  I am so thankful that God lead you to a great and experienced midwife who could help Susan to do her best job in labor!  Can't wait for more pictures fo her (uh, Carys, not Susan - we know what she looks like!).  Good job , Susan & coach Jeff!

Jeff, Little Carys is cute.  Thank you Susan!  I'm so glad you all were able to have a natural birth.  The way it was intended.  You're courageous and need to be commended for that.  We prayed the birth would go well and that all mountains and valleys would be smoothed along the way.  Awesome to see that answered.  Can't wait to see you all.  Your bud, Steve

Congratulations to you and your family! What a beautiful baby and what an ideal place to be born, at home. Excellent job Mama! Hope you're all getting plenty of rest.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the hospital. I gave birth to my daughter naturally & drug-free 2.5 yrs ago and I also had a drug-free natural birth with my twins 5 months ago. But my husband and I really had a time finding a care provider who felt comfortable and had experience delivering twins naturally. Turns out the twins & I did most of the work and the dr. almost missed twin A, my Harry's, birth and didn't have to do anything for Lucy's birth except stand by. I too am a true believer of natural childbirth.

Thank you also for your very informative blog. We'll be moving into the area and we've already learned a lot from your blog.

All good wishes,

Laura

Laura, thanks for your story about the twins - I can imagine what you went through with the med. establishment.  After last night I'm re-evaluating the concept of "high risk" as they define it.  If we can do a natural then anyone can...

Moving to the Lancaster area?  I happen to know a good Realtor who's got one more mouth to feed!

Jeff: Came back to see if you added more...yes! One more chubby cheeked little muchkin pic. (did you sleep yet?)

If I could go back 25/26 years and there were natural births I would have asked.

Jeff - you are my hero. Thanks for sticking by your wife and fighting for her!! Susan - wasn't it great being at home? I'm so happy for you! And God Bless Diane! Thank you Diane. I know you lay it on the line for all of us, mothers and babies, who simply want to experience birth the way it was meant to be.

Natural childbirth is a wonderful gift to give to your baby, and you did it! You should be very proud of yourselves! Its just amazing how God works, just when everything seemed hopeless it ended up turning out better then you could have imagined! I'm so happy for you guys!!!

Congratulations, Susan and Jeff!  It is a wonderful blessing that everything turned out okay.  I am sure that your other kids are just as excited to have a new baby sister as you are.  Just think, she can always smile broadly when people ask her "where was she born?" and answer, with confidence and pride, "At Home".

Jeff and Susan,

Carol and I have been thinking of you since we had talked at Calvary about your expected birth in June.  At the beginning of this week we began wondering if it had already occurred and were surprised to hear of your wonderful news today.  Praise God for Carys and a healthy delivery!  It is a joy to hear that you had a natural birth and that you were able to be at home with the support of a midwife.

May God continue to bless you every day as your daughter grows and develops.  May you find many smiles and ongoing happiness as she explores what God has in store for her life.

Congratulations!

Another Blessing for your family, congratulations!!! I'm sure the boys are trilled to have a baby sister to hold and protect. Mom and Dad are trilled too I'm sure, a little girl to complete the family. Praise God  that all worked out in your challenge with the hospital.

Love and prayers, Kim for all

Susan and Jeff,

I am delight to hear the wonderful news.  What an awesome edition to your family.  She is adorable and I bet the big brothers are glowing.  Praise the Lord that all worked out.  Did someone mention high risk? I know a very qualified risk manager and legal nurse consultant.  Hey, everyone else was advertising!  :-)

Congrats!

Congratulations! Enjoy these early days, they are amazing and she is beautiful. We had some trouble with the hospital when my first was born, but looking back it all fades away and your left with memories of the "milky smiles" as I call them and the wonder of their beauty.

Don't know how I missed this but CONGRATULATIONS!!!  I always say the problem with "the best years of your life" is that you don't know they were the best years until they're over. So, I'm here to tell you, you are now entering THE BEST YEARS OF YOUR LIFE.  Take the time to enjoy every second.

We are delighted for the two of you!  Sharon went 100% natural with both Heather (14) and Brianna (10), so we respect and admire what you went through.  Congratulations!  We'd love to meet Carys Victoria sometime soon.  Blessings to you!
