Volkswagen has gotten my attention with their "fun theory."

Fun theory?  Aren't we all supposed to be working?

We're still going to get the work done.  The difference is finding ways to make the work enjoyable.  Make the transaction FUN!

So check these out:

How can we apply the theory to our daily interactions with clients?

I love it!  So what you are saying is I need sound effects when I stage houses?  Interesting!

What kind of sound can we make when someone calls us about listing their house?

Mike, when I first meet buyers, I tell them that I promise, we will have fun looking for houses.  Almost always, I come away with a client for life.  Not always, but almost!  Life is supposed to be fun.  buying a house is a good thing.  It's supposed to be an enjoyable experience.

Susan,

It just looks like fun, doesn't it?  And that's the point.

Jane,

I don't know; I've never listed a house...  :)

Christine,

It really is!

Sharon,

I guess it depends on the sound.  :)  I do seriously wonder, though, how we can get back to helping our clients enjoy interacting with us.

Sara,

I don't know; that Sphinx doesn't look like he's having much fun.  LOL

Jared & Amanda,

I'm just a kid at heart.

Fun is good!  Sometimes we over complicate things and make them not fun!

Mike,

The piano thing was done in the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks, but he actually learned dance steps to make a song...Good post. Sometimes we need to remember to make things fun.

Here is the link from "Big".

Mike - loved the piano stairs video. LIfe is too short to not have fun, but it 's easy to get sucked into the trap of things being too serious (I know that all too well).

Patrick - that scene in Big was great fun. Thanks for the memory.

Hey Mike you know fun is right up my alley.  When the market was more 'normal' and not dealing with all the frustration of muliple offers blah blah blah our buyers actually had FUN buying a home.  I tell them it's going to be Fun 'playing house' - especailly the first timers.  And it is lol

Love these videos - very creative with the piano. I could see myself making music on it and having a blast. Thanks for the fun trip this morning!

For my next party, I'm going to make an audio recording of "The World's Deepest Bin" and attach it to my toilet so that it can only trigger when the seat is down.

Mike, What a great reminder! I need to think of ways to apply this to my business too! Even when I'm having fun, its important to make sure we are incorporating ways for clients to have fun!

How funny, I just posted the piano stairs video on my facebook page yesterday!

I always try to make my transactions fun.  It's my clients who don't always want to join in.

Douglas,

Sort of the same situation as with the trash bin above?  That's the point.  What can we do to make them happy they found us?

ingenuity has its benefits! I want to find a place to play the piano with my feet, too. can we rent piano stairs for open houses???? and promote them. We'd get a lot of people coming by just out of curiosity, and, hey, they may even like the house.

Ok, there's an entrepreneur out there who i just gave an idea, too. hahahha!

When I used to lead law teams to trial, one of our meeting break-up lines was "are we having fun yet?" Yes, we were: we may have been sleep deprived and missing home, but we were having fun.

Meanwhile, how long do you think these record low rates can stick around?

Ann,

Boy, I didn't expect them to last this long--the low interest rates.  I predicted rates at 6% by Christmas!  But I'm having fun!
