I
love Christmas, just as much as the next person.
I
understand that we are trying to boost the economy with Holiday Retail
Sales. I
also understand that we are trying to get our minds off our economy.
I remember years ago,
I would start hearing Holiday reminders by:
Mid-December
Then it was December 1st
Then
it was the day after Thanksgiving
Then
it was Thanksgiving
Then
it was right before Thanksgiving.
This
year however, it all started on November 1st
The
commercials for holiday buying
The
ads in the papers
The
ads online
Even
a local radio station here has been ONLY playing Christmas music and
started on November 1st
Well, it appears to have
worked!
I
hear more and more about people doing their holiday shopping.
More
and more homes are already decorated.
We
even have a tree in our office already.
And I received a Christmas card in the mail today.
OK,
I’m on board too…Happy Holidays Everyone! Here’s
a video of one of my favorite Christmas songs:

Oh, Lordy! I'm nowhere NEAR ready for Thanksgiving, muchless CHRISTMAS! YIKES--wasn't it just Christmas last month?! Too many holidays, too little time!
Hey...I'm just gearing up for Thanksgiving!! I admit I'm trying to get the ideas for the grand-kids so I can get a jump start but no decorated trees yet! I love the fall Thanksgiving decorations and have been enjoying them. The day after Thanksgiving the tree will appear..soon enough!
I know...to every time there is a season...and a holiday...here...if you want to string lights on the roof...decorate the trees...now is the better time rather than risk life and limb sliding down more than just the chimney !
Toula - I am still Christmas shopping for 2007, hope to catch up this year. And this is officially the first Christmas song I have listened to this year. Have a merry one.
Hi Craig - EXACTLY...that's usually been the kick off for Christmas, but not this year! And if I had to guess which was your favorite, I would have guessed Lennon's song!
I do not think about Christmas until the day after thanksgiving. I am a traditionalist. Nex thing you know we will be decorating the top of the tree with a flag for the 4th of July !
Hi Toula, it seems really early, but I loved the Billy Squire video and also the one Craig posted. I'm working on my Christmas Card list and getting the cards ready to send, when it is time. Time goes too fast in between Thanksgiving and Christmas - might as well start early :-)
My husband and I have a deal...No Christmas tree until the day after Thanksgiving. And I am not allowed to pull out Christmas Vacation and The Grinch until that day (I will play them 100 times before Christmas). I did start my shopping and card list weeks ago and I LOVE The holiday season. Just gotta get through the turkey and dressing first! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Yes, it is starting early. I like to enjoy Thanksgiving before I have to start thinking about Christmas. But, I guess it has started.
That John Lennon song that Craig likes is also one of my favorite Christmas songs. It says a lot about this time of the year for many people. But, my truly favorite is Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" - "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."
