There are two simple ways to Reply to comments when having a conversation in Google Wave.

You can insert a Reply to anywhere in the conversation.

1.  Find the comment to which you want to Reply.  Or just place your Reply after the most recent comment in the conversation.

2.  Hover your mouse over the bottom border of the comment, and a double blue line will appear.  Click on the double blue line.

Clicking on the double blue line will open up a message box.  Type or paste in your Reply and click Done.

ALTERNATE METHOD:  you can click on the drop down arrow in the upper right corner of any comment.

Using the drop down menu will give you a few more choices:  You can make a private reply that does not show up in the general conversation, you can copy the comment to a new wave.  You can even edit or delete another person's comment (which could be dangerous.)

Cheryl,  here is the form to request an invite from Google

https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignup/

Be aware it might take a looooong time.

Meanwhile, I'll add you to my list; for when I get some more invites to share.

CJ...

I love these tutorials. I haven't used Google Wave yet. But I'm working on it. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to access FB without it dumping a bunch of crap into my Piece of Crap :)

Oh...

And I thought you'd want to know that the link you posted in comment #2 doesn't open in a separate window. I got lost and had to come back :)

Google Wave is very cool. THere was a session on it at the recent RE Bar Camp San Diego but I had to miss to go to something else that interested me. THanks for the invite link.

My brother is testing Google Wave as we speak. So far, he loves it and sees many benefits to his business. So far so good, and I am looking forward to starting it as soon as I get the invite!

Maureen - Do you have some tech-savvy clients?  Offer to send one of those clients one of your invites.  They will love you.

I was not included in the beta test. Therefore, I am waving something from my YAHOO! account and looking for the answers on BING.

Can you guess what part of my hand I'm waving?

Cheryl, thanks as always for the tutorial. I can't see what it really wants us to do. I don't see where to collect our friends other than add an email address. I know it's new, but wanted your input.

That is great information Cheryl, but I have to believe that google will have to address the option for someone to delete other people's commments.

It can take a very long time to get an invite. I have been waiting for a little over a month so far and still nothing from my request to receive an invite from Google.

Hopefully they get it running soon for everybody

so cool.  Thanks for sharing.  I hope this become active on other sites like Wiki

Still waiting for my invite!  It will be nice to know what to do once I receive it though!

Like Maureen, I am finding this really challenging - I think I stuck a comment in one of your waves by accident when I was trying to "ping" Maureen.  I got my invite and I am there but I have no idea what I am doing.  This helps!

Great tutorial.  Google Wave is the future of Social Media and it's fun to be learning it while it is still in the beta testing stage.  Thank you for this article.

Looks cool, I remember that it was not that long ago that the invites for gmail were going around. Google is taking over.

Cheryl,

I guess I don't understand.  I've seen the hype and many articles on Google Wave, and I'm still waiting for my invitation.  But if somebody/anybody else "can even edit or delete" my comment, what's the point?  Why would I want to make any comments on Google Wave?  Any examples?  Sounds like it "could be dangerous" as you say...

Hey everyone

Google Wave is SUPPOSED to hopefully replace emails going back and forth, multiple social networking, collaboration and so forth. The introduction video is LOOONG but it'll glue you to your seats due to its innovation.

That being said Doug, Carol and Roland yes it does take forever to get an invite directly from Google or regular people. We as a company do have quite a few Invitations that go out in 24hrs usually since we're on the software development side. That being said if you DM me here on ActiveRain or twitter @ListingMoves with your email address I can get you an invitation.

Warm wishes

@ListingMoves

John, Wave is more like a tool for collaborating on a project with a group of people, or having a group discussion.  So, in that context, editing someone else's comment is not out-of-place.  That said, the early adopters are hashing out the etiquette system as they go.

Melissa start with the official Google Video.  The 8 minute one, not the 80 minutes one.

It's a big deal to get a google wave invitation. Julie Chapman JUST offered over a dozen of her Google Wave Invitations on her Facebook page and also in Active Rain if you want to contact her and get one. http://activerain.com/blogs/juliechapman

Cheryl - I like the fact that you can reply in the original wave creating a new thread.  I also like the fact that you can hide replies, edit replies, and even reply privately.  All are pretty great tools in my book.  It is much better - especially for planning events - where you exchange a dozen e-mails with a dozen people.
