13 Comments on When buying a new phone... make a call before you leave the store!
I've already wasted nearly an hour trying to look at phones this morning on the Verizon site. That is such an awful website! But our local office is worse. They don't even have very many real phones for you to look at- they have "dummy" phones of cardboard, just so you can see the size. Useless! I stick with them for the coverage, but NOT happily.
Waiting is the WORST! The older I get, the impatient-er I get...!
Tammy I am thinking about getting a new phone also ....but hate having to learn how to use a new one and waiting at the Verizon store myself.........they have to be one of the worst customer service places I have ever gone to.....peace zane
Oh, do you ever sound like me. Verizon most definitely has the worst in-store customer service. However, I must say I love their tech support. If you have desktop manager you should be able to transfer everything over onto your new phone. I recently bought a new phone from Verizon and even though they transferred my contacts over, they didn't transfer everything. I managed to do it myself.
Leslie- our store does have real phones, but they aren't charged.
Amy- you know that's true, the older I get the less patience I have.
Zane- I have help learning how to use it. Between my high tech daughter and my husband I hope they can figure all the features out.
Jane- that sounds a bit over my head. I have so much to learn about techie stuff. Maybe I can just pay my daughter to do it for me.
i was assuming you have a Blackberry. Silly me.
Well I would have said that the jerk clerk should have MADE A PRACTISE CALL to your phone as a standard procedure before you left the store !! ... thats what they did when I bought my last Crackberry.
... actually that was at a Verizon store here in my area, and they have always been super helpful - BUT I do always have to WAIT WAY TOO LONG for my liking !
Thank goodness you didnt have to wait too long the last couple of times you called my cellphone huh !?!?!? ;o)
Jane- that would be my daughter's phone. So I'm sure she would know just what you are talking about. But no, no blackberry for me. Maybe I'll upgrade to that if I ever get that kid out of college on off the pay roll. LOL
Sheldon- no Sheldon- you did not make me wait... except I'm waiting to see how long before you know who it is when I dial your number. HAHA.
Tammy - Hello all you Verizon customers. I must admit AT&T is not any better for service. I think service in America has been on the down trend for some time. Of course I am not talking about you. If I lived in your area, I would be asking for an interview to work for you.
Hi Tammy, I'm sorry to hear this story, as I thought it was an isloated incident that some people I hae talked to were unhappy with the service at our nearby Verizon store. and same problems with the contacts being transferred and the same complaint about no chairs to sit in while you wait... and as for making customers wait - you definitely have the right idea how not to do ti!!
Tammy - I would have been irritated and frustrated for sure! We don't have Verizon but doesn't seem to make a difference, I do not like to go to the store for anything! ~Rita
Sharon- my office land line is AT&T and I certainly agree with you. For years I had Southern Bell and then it changed to Bellsouth and their customer service was always top notch. After the merger wtih AT&T it just went rapidly down hill.
Mary- Must just be company policy to hire people with no people skills.
Okay Rita- I've got to hop over and see where you are that has no Verizon- I thought they were on every corner like starbucks.
Ooooooh, that would make me so frustrated. I can imagine what would have happened had we both marched in the next day!
