The rail line running through Dover and into Needham has been decommissioned since 2008. There appears to be an active group researching the viability of creating a bike trail along this seven mile run of line. It seems as though owners, Bay Colony and MBTA, may be in agreement over this conversion. The main group investigating this operation is "Needham Bikes" headed by bike enthusiasts. The formulation of this new project is "The Bay Colony Rail Trail Project". Since rail to trail projects have been completed in other Massachusetts communities, there is lots of inspiration out there to gain insight and help formulate the project. Something to watch and see.
