The Charles River watershed covers 308 square miles of land and travels 80 miles. In 2006, the Charles River was announced as one of the cleanest urban rivers in America. The stewards of this progress is directed by the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), founded in 1965. Since these vast efforts to clean up the environment of the Charles River, it now is home to more than 57 species of freshwater fish and 400 plus species of local and migratory birds. Contact the CRWA and show your support, www.charlesriver.org.

Dover provides several access points to the Charles River. There's lots of opportunity to canoe or kayak along a very generous portion of the river. Enjoy Dover from the waterside and have some fun.
