NEW YORK --
Beazer Homes USA, which had an unusually high rate of foreclosures near North Carolina's largest city, has fired its chief accounting officer for attempting to destroy documents.
Federal authorities are investigating possible fraud in the company's mortgage lending practices and other transactions.
Amid an internal investigation, the company found that Michael Rand had attempted to destroy documents in violation of its document retention policy, according to a regulatory filing Wednesday.
