Are You Following "Rules Of Engagement" To Get More Blog Reader Response?

By
Real Estate Agent with APR Referral Network

Have you been blogging regularly, but not getting good reader response?  Here are a few Rules of Engagement (from Virtual REBarCamp yesterday) that all of us real estate bloggers could follow for greater success:

  • Ask yourself: Are you answering questions your readers have?
  • Write your blog like you are talking personally with your reader
  • Say you more than I
  • Use bullets or lists to make it easy for your reader
  • Limit blog posts to 300-500 words
  • Use keywords three times (in the title, first paragraph and somewhere else)*
  • Do your links go to a new window so you don't loose your reader?
  • Do you link to other pages on your blog to carry a thread?
  • Do you include a clear call to action?

Please leave your comments here at this blog post after your check out my other blog: www.SaratogaVoice.com. I learned a lot yesterday and still need to make some improvements, with your help. Thanks!

*Note: We know that Google SEO is more focused on content than keywords, but keywords give you, the writer, focus to engage the reader in your conversation.

Rick, thanks for the reminders.  I start most of my posts with answering questions that I have received from clients or thought of when my mind wanders.  Always room for improvement!

I need to link to more old posts when writing new ones, otherwise I think I'm doing pretty much what you outlined in your easy-to-read bullet points.

Need to work on that one.

Thanks for your comments Steve, Shana, Laxson and Julia.  Community is about engagement and we all benefit by sharing.  I wrote this blog post from memory as they applied to weaknesses I need to work on, but I should give most of the credit to Kathy Gougehnour of www.leadboosterclub.com for several of the ideas I am trying to correct or put into practice.  I also need to Google check analytics and refresh and repost or link to older posts that are still getting hits and to help the spider search thread.
