WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO WHEN THE CENSUS TAKER COMES TO CALL?

By
Real Estate Agent with Rosen Company West/Diversified Real Estate Consultants L.L.C

They are going to do a census in 2010. I don't think they are going to be asking too many Real Estate questions so it's probably going to be a waste of time.

Will you tell the census taker everything about yourself? Will you bare your soul to the census taker? Or will you do something I would never think of doing - like lie to the census taker. What if you said your were making lots of money selling properties and the market is great and still getting better.  Would that skew the statistics?

Will you let the census taker through the door? You could shout out your answers from behind the door - I've seen people do that. Maybe we all can write up some stock answers that we could share collectively and give to them census takers. We could circulate stock answers to everyone we know and by using them over and over again the census people would wind up with generic answers that would leave them knowing no more about us than we know about them.

HERE ARE SOME STOCK ANSWERS WE COULD TELL THE CENSUS TAKERS.  IF YOU HAVE OTHER PLEASE ADD THEM TO THE LIST

 1. We all perfer WalMar over Target. 2. I sleep 6 to 7 hours a night. 3. I do use Tylenol. 4. I attend church on a regular basis. 5. I'm sure I believe in God and our Government. 6. My wife and I take two vacations a year. 7. I like to eat turkey on Thanksgiving. 8. Most people like me. 9. I am rarely late for work. 10. It is not in my nature to lie.

That's funny.  I'll be truthful with them.  How can I not be?  Most census workers in our area will be out of work Realtors.  Sad, but true.

Never had a census taker come to the door...they send out questionnaires in our area.  But, the answers you suggest have never been asked as questions to us.  Age, gender and square footage of the home come to mind.  Hmm.  Guess I'll have to have some ready answers.

I've BEEN a census worker. It's amazing how many people are so paranoid that they won't talk to them. Personally, I'll answer all their questions- why not?
