The Power of the Name Tag

I wonder if I should have been a game show host because I'm always asking questions? I love to learn new things and try to do alot of the research on my own. I had an opportunity to talk one on one with a seasoned real estate agent and of course I asked the magical question of how I could jump start my real estate business.

Her first answer without a second thought was GET A NAME TAG.Name Tag

I have to admit this was not the first time I had heard this advice. This same advice was given to me at least three times before. This advice had also come with some strong proven results. The result of prospecting while doing other stuff like getting a car wash, grocery shopping, and the list goes on and on!

So what was my hang up with getting a name tag? I absolutely want people to know that I am in the real estate business but I guess I didn't want to be so obvious.

Selling real estate in Macomb, MI (a town that I actually relocated to recently) has been a lot of fun. All of my business has been through company referrals, and I am very appreciative. But I am not one to live on handouts......so I ordered my NAME TAG!

Your name is everything in the real estate business.  How have people that have met you supposed to find you again if they don't remember your name when you introduced yourself? Think how many times someone introduces themselves to you and 2 minutes later you are kicking yourself to remember even their first name.  It happens to me all the time anyway.  They may not need your services when you first meet but down the road the visibility of the name tag will help them remember who you are.

Kimberly, I have had a name tag for 3 months that has added to approachability and more friendly responses from strangers. Still waiting for someone to say "Mike, so you are a REALTOR....help me sell/buy a house." But I am sure it will happen.
