Foster City shares the zip code of 94404 with San Mateo.  This city of about 29,000 people sits on the water front of San Francisco Bay with manyFoster_City_seal.gif homes having beautiful waterfront lots.  It sits east of 101 and south of 92.  <!--{PS..0}--> So "What's Going on in San Mateo County?" continues with what's happening in the real estate market in Foster City.  Once again, thanks to the great data we have from Altos Research, you can find out.

The median price last week for Foster City was $1,279,440 making this a move-up market.  There aren't any entry level single family homes in Foster City.  Entry level here is townhouses or condos and as Foster City is a planned community, there are many of these to choose from.

The inventory is trending up, as it is in the other communities I've talked about this week.  With the Market Action Index flat, conditions don't appear to have a strong directipn either up or downward.  Prices are at all time highs in Foster City with the average price for a 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home at $1,250,494. Go figure.

The market here is still in the Warm Seller's range.  It's not worth sitting on the fence waiting for prices to drop here because it doesn't appear as though this will happen, at least not in the near future.  With top rated schools, more parks per square foot of city land than any other city in San Mateo County, and loads of outdoor recreation, Foster City is considered a great family location.  Easy commutes to the East Bay, South Bay and San Francisco and to SFO or Oakland Airport.

Foster City's market has been similar to San Francisco,  it has a lot to do with location, weather and everything that's influence the market in a positive way.

 Hi Francisco,

You'll see once I complete the other two markets, that almost everyone of the cities I follow regularly are similar.  No doubt, San Francisco would be aligned as the same issues are there: landlocked, little new housing, high demand.  What is intersting is that the coastal cities, Half Moon Bay and Pacifica are now in the warm buyers arena.  My guess is Daly City is also there, too.  Thanks for reading and stopping by!
