I love the new iPhone but I dont think I will keep it due to forced use of ATT service.

The ads certainly looked interesting, however, to take the time to program it the way it appears on TV must be very time consuming. I can only imagine what they will introduce by December...the next generation?

I try to steer clear of 1.0 of anything ...

Too much money for me. Besides, if I want to listen, its ipod alone. If I need a phone I use a phone. If the "one is all" goes down or gets lost, oh well, tough!

AJ - Thanks!!! I am up for a renewal phone, and was looking seriously at the iphone. I don't even listen to music or books on tape that much (I broke down to get a shuffle to mow the lawn).

You have helped me decide. Thanks again.

AJ,  I have been wondering how is the keyboard on it?  I know it has to be a touchscreen keyboard and not a qwerty board.  Is it a pain?

Also, I was very skeptical of it simply because like you said it is a 1.0 version.

The commercial is cool though!

I think I'll stick to my Treo, with all of its quirks.

Remember when you were a kid how cool the toy prizes in the cereal box were on the commercials ?  Then when you got home and pulled it out there was a let down?

I have the new Treo 755p.  So far I a pretty impressed.  I used to have the 650p which crashed every other day.

Every smart phone has its pros and cons.

I think it looks awesome but will not be buying for 2 reasons. I never buy the first generation of anything - the inevitable bugs. Secondly, you are required to sign up for ATT/Cingular the ONLY service provider for the iPhone. At one time I had Cingular and experienced many connectivity & support issues. I switched to Verizon Wirelesss and have never had a problem. I would have to drop my contract and pay an early termination fee

It's too expensive to jump in with both feet for an unproven product and questionable service.

I'm sticking with my Treo, too.  Besides, I don't have AT&T service, and don't ever plan to.  Thier service in my area isn't all that great.

Here is my Sansa - this thing is small - fits in your shirtpocket...

A.J.  I saw one today and it does seem to do a lot of things, but the cost is way more than I am willing to pay.  I think I will wait 6 months ant then if I want it I will probably be able to get it for less than half of the present cost.

George, don't count on them getting cheaper. I am on my 2nd Treo. The vesions I know about are 600p, 650p, 680, 700p, 700w, 700wx, 750w, 750p and 755p. I bought the 650 2 weeks after it came out in January 2005 for $599 with a $100 service credit. I bought the 755p three weeks ago, it came out in late May for $579. I got a $150 discount cause I was do a new phone credit and they gave me a $150 service credit cause I bugged the crap out of them. They get you with technology because they keep putting the latest and greatest thing on it. My Treo 755p can do everything the I Phone can plus it has a video cam, digital camera, palm based planner, watch LIVE TV, plug it in to your laptop as a modem with broadband speed, download new applications, etc. Heck I am posting this comment on my phone right now. After writing this it sounds like I am bitter? Huh? Maybe I am a little because I phone acts like it has this amazing new product! They mostly just have a new commercial. I will give them credit because it is a good one!

Rey,

How much do you pay in monthly fees for service on your Treo?

I pay about $220 per month for my cell phone service but I paid about that before I got my first treo. I had to upgrade my bandwidth which cost $15 per month.
