The Federal tax credit for home improvements expires November 30

My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego.I don't know about the rest of the nation, but we are getting inundated here in San Diego with mailings, door flyers, and newspaper advertisements about the Federal tax credit of $1,500 for home improvements that expires November 30.

Apparently the home improvements tax credit did not get extended, so take this opportunity to do some Guerrilla Marketing and let your past Clients, present Clients, Sellers, Buyers, family, friends, and business associates know that they can do qualified home improvements and get a $1,500 Federal tax credit.

Pizza probably is not a qualified home improvementI'm not sure exactly what qualified home improvements are, but apparently they include quite a bit because we're getting ads from door and window installers, garage door installers, flooring companies, heating and cooling companies, roofing contractors, and pizza companies.

Well, we always get seven ads each week in the mail from pizza companies, so maybe that's not related to the home improvement tax credits.

Check with your CPA as I'm sure s/he'll have a list of qualified home improvements.

Hi Jim ~ Well this is one I didn't know about.  I did hear on NPR the other day that there's talk about doing a tax credit program for home weatherization.  I sure need insulation so I think it's a great idea.  And my entire family is very excited about this pizza credit - pizza has been a Bolton basic food group for as long as I can remember.

I wish this had been extended as well.  Our local HVAC companies have been very busy as a result of this!

Hi, Jim:

I must be getting over this cold: those pizza slices actually look good! I haven't had much of an appetite for a while.

We got our refund check yesterday from our local utility for installing solar attic fans. A tax credit program for insulation/weatherization, as Liz mentioned, would be great.

Cheers,

Robin

What?!?! No tax credits for pizza?  What a bummer!  We will at least get credit for the new roof, insulation and solar skylight we installed in our home this year.

Hey, Liz - The insulation people are telling us that their product is part of the Federal tax credit, so check it out. We're getting advertisements from both attic insulation and remodeling insulation people. I like pizza, but someone else in this household could eat pizza 24 hours a day, if his doctor would let him.

Hey, Sharon - I always wonder why so many government officials like top-down economic policies. I could have guaranteed that if the government gave $787 billion dollars to the citizens of America, it would have solved the economic crisis very quickly. We would have put our money in banks, banks would have had money to lend small businesses, etc. Although I appreciate the real estate extension, the price of real estate means that not everyone is going to benefit. Give every citizen $10,000 or so and I bet lots of people would benefit.

Hey, Robin - Glad you're recovering. I tried to get the City of San Diego to apologize to you for making you sick, but with the City Council we have right now, nothing is ever their fault, not even the $2 billion pension fund deficit or the $200 million budget deficit.

Hey, Susan - And then you can go out and buy a pizza. See? We can work pizza in there if we try hard enough.

Hey, Carra - Contact your CPA. Ours has a list, so I'm sure CPA's in other parts of the country do, too.
