Home Staging Tip - How to Reach Cobwebs on the Ceiling

On the rare occurrence you may have cobwebs in the corner of a room, and can't reach it even with a ladder, there are a few other ways to try and get them down. If you have two story ceilings these are great tips to get those pesty cobwebs down. If your vaccum extensions are not long enough try using a telescoping painting pole, broom, mop or fishing pole covered by an old t-shirt, sock, pillowcase or nylon net or microfiber rag.

For those really tall ceilings wrap a tennis ball or racquetball in a rag and wrap a rubber band or twisty tie to hold it in place and throw it up until web is gone.

Just don't get too overeager and throw it so hard that it bounces off and breaks something. Try throwing it as gently, but hard enough to reach the web.

Great tips Cindy! Those cobwebs really need to go.

Cindy -- those are clever ideas for getting high cobwebs. I have 32-ft tall ceilings in my great room ... and even the painters are afraid to go up that high LOL

Cathy-I hate spiders, especially the ones outside that have thier nests down low...creepy!

Maureen-I don't blame them, I guess you'd better get your throwing arm in shape if you ever get them.

I found this is really good for those pesky skylights.

Bonnie-Yes, it would work for those too, thanks for the tip.

I can see myself throwing the tennis ball through a window!! Yikes! Good idea though.

Cindy, that's a really cool idea. I use to do it with clean wet paper towel ball but it does not fly that high :) Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Love your helpful tips and this is a good one. How hard do you have to throw at a wasp's nest on a patio?! Those would take a mighty arm!

Oh my gosh, I would have never thought of this. My Webster will reach most of the ceilings in local homes but I guess that I'd better add some tennis balls to my tool box for the mountain A-frames. Thanks Cindy.

Good tip, now how about blades on a two story ceiling fan? It is in the middle of a room and no way to reach, to get good and clean, I don't know why the builder put up white, a natural wood would not show what can not get off.

The tennis ball thing is a good idea.

I can usually get those webs with my vacuum cleaner

Kim-I know, If a windows close by it could be "iffie"...Ha!

Tonia-My aims not too bad, it my rocket arm...kidding!

Anna-True, a wet one would drag it down.

Melody-For those, you take no prisoners, use "Raid" with a 20' reach and blast them!

Peggy-I had a house that was in a heavily wooded area, and it was vacant, there were spiders and various other small bugs. It would have come in handy there!

Ginger-I know, right, my "tool" box needs truck of it's own it's gotton so big and heavy!

Brenda-I'll have to think about that one. The first thing I can think of is getting a ladder and one of those telescoping handles that have an L-shaped dustesr on the end for ceiling fans.

Lise-You can always say you were playing catch with the dog..lol!

Virginia-If you have the right attachments, the vacuum is great, especially the portable ones. My handheld Oreck just stopped working the other day : (
