I had to go back to basics two months ago when my palm centro died on me. It was my ekey.  Since I had no intention of continuing my service with SPRINT, I just contact the Board of Realtors and purchased a Display Key. I am very satisfied with it, and it's cheaper than the ekey.

So to date I have used the services of Verizon, Sprint  and Cricket.  My goal is not to pursuade anyone here about carriers.  All I require is good phone service, and to get what I pay for.  If I pay for 1000 minutes per month that's what I want.  I don't want dropped calls, all I want is to be able to make and receive call without any problems.  Is that too much to ask?

My two sons have done the research on this, and their recommendation is that I go with the IPhone.  For those of you who have had experience with IPhones, can you share your experience with me?  I can't wait to get mine.

My Sprint contract expires December 29th.

AT&T is your only option with the Iphone, and I wouldn't use AT&T if the phone cooked dinner.

The problem with Iphone is that only ATT offers -- which could be ok if the coverage is good where you are -- not so much where we are -- here T-mobile is the only one that rings.

Sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with carriers.  We love Sprint and wouldn't think of changing.  My husband used to complain about it until he upgraded his phone and realized it was the weak antenna in the phone that was dropping the calls, and since upgrading, we have great service.  I have the Instinct phone and really like it.  Especially the GPS system which I like better than the iphone's GPS.  My husband has a Blackberry Curve and he likes it a lot, now that he has figured out most of the features (which aren't explained very well in the manual).  Whatever you decide, I hope it works out for you.

I get very poor reception in my area and have tried several carriers.  I finally am using T-mobile because the signal comes in the strongest for me.

Verizon is the service with the best coverage in my area which covers areas where other carriers don't.

So. . . . .

Hi Alex: Thank you for your input.  I see you are not recommending AT&T.  I see you have a bad experience with AT&T

Ben & Carolin: I think you are spot on.  As long as coverage is good here, then I am happy.  Actually My sons love Sprint when they ar at school.  Sprint service in Massachusetts is awesome.

Thank you very much Susan. Like I said before, I have used Verizon, Sprint, Cricket, I forgot to mention T-Mobile and Alltel some years ago.  I went wrong with the phones.  This time around, I have selected the phone first.  From what I haave heard thus far, AT&T gets good reception in Albuquerque

Good point Charles.  It has to do with the quality of the reception in your area

Hi Lenn :  Your point is well taken here.  Verizon is not bad here either.  As a matter of fact, my fiance uses Vierizon.  I think I had the same experience like Susan's husband had.

C, I've tried numerous wireless carriers throughout the years in the SF Bay Area:

  1. Cellular One
  2. Pacific Bell
  3. T-Mobile
  4. NEXTEL
  5. Verizon Wireless
  6. Sprint
  7. AT&T - who I'm still with after 11 months since I switched to the iPhone

I think your choice probably depends mostly on the coverage quality in your area, but around here I have to say they're all about the same. Since I got an iPhone, I can't imagine life without it...but that's my own biased opinion! I've had 3 different Blackberrys in the past, but I prefer the iPhone!

Good luck with your decision! :)

Leilani, thank you so much for your input.  The blackberry was the only one that I did not very much information about.  At this stage in the game, I am very satisfied with my decision to go with the iphone. Nobody has really presented a good argument why I should not go with it.  Your argument is solid.  Thank you
