There are plenty of things to do in Hockessin, DE and really close by. There are lots of family attractions, some really great restaurants and lots of shopping. For the athletes and fitness minded families and individuals, there's the Hockessin Athletic Center (HAC), the Hockessin Soccer Club and the Piedmont Baseball and Softball League. There is also a tennis club that is right in Hockessin as well. If you like to ride a bike there are many scenic country roads in the Hockessin and Southern Chester County area and you're not too far from some good mountain biking trails too. The PAL Center has lots of great events and programs for the whole family and it's a great after school spot.
There are fun family excursions all around too like the Wilmington & Western Railroad which is a 5-10 minute drive to Prices Corner. It's a blast for kids! Ride an antique steam train up to beautiful Mt. Cuba, enjoy the sights and have a picnic. It's available for birthday parties and a lot of other fun events for kids and grownups as well! There are many museums rich with history like Hagley Museum and Library, The Museum of Natural History, Winterthur and Longwood Gardens. These all have something for the entire family. We are so close to Kennett Square and Chadds Ford, PA as well, which offer many interesting attractions. There are plenty of things to do in Hockessin, DE or just a short drive from it. The Delaware Valley is loaded with attractions and we are very close to Philadelphia and Baltimore and within reasonable driving distance to New York City. It's also easy to take the train. In the summer months stop by the Woodside Creamery on your way home! It's a nice country farm where you can get home made ice cream and relax at the picnic tables in the country atmosphere. They have cool kids events too!
Shopping in Hockessin is convenient. You have the Lantana Shopping Center with a big Acme grocery store and all the other stores that you would expect to find at a big shopping center like this. They have a Walk-in Clinic, Post Office and lot's, lot's more! There's also the Harvest Market for organic groceries and the newly opened Greg's Produce and Flowers. Hockessin Corner is a quaint shopping center with gift stores and a nice variety of shops. There are also some nice Salons and gift stores right around the corner on Old Lancaster Pike.
Some favorite dining spots are Six Paupers Tavern and Restaurant, Dome Bar and Grill, The Back Burner, Palacio Maya and Okura, plus plenty of breakfast and lunch cafes like The Perfect Cup and Kim's Cafe. If you run out of things to do in Hockessin, DE, there is always plenty more nearby!
