Guffey is one of the best mountain communities in Colorado.

Pikes Peak Mountain

Guffey, Colorado is a quaint little mountain town located off of Hwy 9 and Park County Road 102 in Park county Colorado (altitude of 8600 ft.). The Royal Gorge outside of Canon City is down the road on Hwy. 9 to Hwy. 50.  Cripple Creek is back up the road into Teller County. The central location of this small community makes it an ideal spot to live in a peaceful setting with the conveniences of the city nearby.

Guffey Colorado Mountain Home

Mountain cabins, traditional residences, green and solar homes, large land tracts and stunning Mountain Trophy homes are all available in this area of Colorado. Many unique opportunities exist in the area. If you are looking for a quiet mountain setting with a few good neighbors then Guffey may be the paradise that you have been missing.

Guffey sits in a Caldera, a cauldron-like volcanic feature usually formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. You will find the hill ouside of town on CR 102 is quite steep but the views of the Peak to the East are stunning. Eleven Mile Reservoir and Spinney Reservoir are only a few miles away. Mountain views, beautiful sunsets and all varieties of wildlife are plentiful in the region.

Rita’s Café is a nice place to stop for a cup of coffee, a sandwich, or a few of Rita’s delicious pastries for the road. If you need heartier food and drinks then stop in at the Freshwater Saloon and enjoy a cold beer and onion rings. If you stay a little later you can often catch some local live music.

Guffey is more than a stop on a day trip. The community and the surrounding outlying area have over 500 year round residents. A charter school is also located in town in addition to the Library and Community center. The Library has become so popular that an addition to the building is currently uGuffey Colorado Moutnain Land nder construction. Linda at the Post Office in town will make sure to forward your mail if you aren’t a year round resident.

Sabrina - Guffey is a great little town - So much character, and charm! I was recently there, met Bob from the garage, and ate at the Freshwater Saloon - a great burger! Loved the skeleton horses on the corner....Bob's sense of humor is unrivaled! I made a little Halloween video from some photos I took of the horses and inside the garage - Bone Town

Hi Sabrina, I have been to Eleven Mile and Spinney Reservoir - I don't think we went to Guffey?  It sounds like a wonderful town, and similar in size to Red Feather Lakes.  I would love to visit you there someday!  This was a great post about your town!

Happy Thanksgiving Sabrina!

Mary, Guffey is such the little jewel of a town. I would like to visit Red Feather Lakes also.

Debi, I am really glad that you didn't tag those photos. Even though it is very very unique, I still think the town center could use a turn of "artistic" vision.

Enjoy your Turkey Day, Girls!
