Santa Is Coming To Town on November 27th


The Schaumburg Fire Department will officially escort Santa Claus to schaumburg illinois,lyn sims,town on Friday, November 27, 2009 to join village officials in the annual tree lighting ceremony and welcome the holiday season from 6 to 8:30 pm at the Prairie Center for the Arts.

Village President Al Larson and members of the Board of Trustees will begin the evening singing holiday carols at 6pm at the Prairie Center for the Arts. Santa is anticipated to arrive at 6:30pm on the plaza between the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center and the Prairie Center for the Arts.
 
Santa will be greeted by village officials who will assist him in his lighting duties. In keeping with holiday tradition, the tree will be decorated with ornaments crafted by area youth groups and organizations. After the lighting ceremony, Santa will meet with youngsters in the Maggie Atcher Theatre located in the Prairie Center for the Arts. Parents are welcome to bring their cameras and get a special snapshot of their children with Mr. Claus.
 
Seasonal entertainment will be featured and refreshments served and this event is co-sponsored with the Schaumburg Jaycees.
 
  • 6 - 6:30pm - Village President & Village Board sing carols.
  • 6:30pm - Santa arrives via fire truck to light the tree with the Village President.
  • 6:45pm to approximately 8:30pm - Children can meet Santa in the Maggie Atcher Theatre.schaumburg illinois,lyn sims,
 
Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to this event for the Schaumburg Food Pantry. These items may be placed in the designated boxes located in the Prairie Center for the Arts lobby.

Courtney:  It's fun for the kids and good family fun.  He's not coming in by helicopter this year I'm assuming because of budget cuts.  Even Santa has to count his pennies!
