Before Last week I received a call from a Realtor asking if I could do a 1 hour staging for an Open House the very next day. After taking a look the same day and prepration of a simple plan, I marched in the next day loaded with accessories. One hour is definitly VERY short, but it is amazing what difference simple changes make - I staged 4 rooms. The house has been on the market for almost a year and a half. After the Open House they received FOUR offers!!! - a result of home staging and a small price reduction.

Do you as a Real Estate Agent or you as a Home Stager have a similar story to share?

Maureen, Barbara, Nancy, Sally thanks for your comments. I agree, this is a very good example of effectiveness of staging. I am convinced that the house could have sold much sooner and at a higher price if they had it staged earlier and had put nice online pictures into their promotion. I met with the home owners and the Real Estate Agent a few months ago, but they did not want to invest in staging. Last minute they changed their minds. Well, in the end even one hour if home staging did pay off.

Congratulations Birgit!  What an accomplishment and what an incredible deal for the homeowners.

The staging of the dining room is excellent. As a redesign trainer, I would have preferred to see the two small pictures over the sofa hung closer to the top of the sofa, so that the art and the sofa are seen as a united "one" instead of two separate sections. This would eliminate the tendency to have the eye drawn to the space between the art and the sofa.

But other than that one comment, you did an outstanding job and the results for the seller are amazing! Well done! Good for you!

Thanks Barbara and Virgina for your comments. I agree with you Barbara about the space between the sofa and the pictures.

Awesome job, Brigit!  You should be proud.  So, I just had this thought.  Would it make sense to find out what open houses were coming up at the beginning of the week, check out the online listings to find some that could easily be improved and contact the agents to propose staging by the hour to get the house ready for an open house?  This might be an interesting way to solicit business.  Hmmmmm.....

Thanks Charissa! I think this would be a good idea, it requires though still to see the place first and bring plently of accessories with you. One hour is though definitly too short for most spaces.

Thanks Cindy!
